This is Dieter's Island:
| Code: |
.. .. .. I5 .. .. .. .. .. J1
.. .. .. J5 .. D1 B3 J4 E2 I2
.. E4 D6 G2 F5 E1 J6 A4 F4 ..
A2 E3 J3 G3 J2 .. C3 .. G1 ..
.. .. H1 A1 .. .. A5 G4 C4 ..
F2 C5 C1 B2 .. .. B6 E5 I3 G5
.. .. A6 I6 F6 F1 H4 .. H6 ..
I4 B4 I1 D4 A3 B1 .. .. H3 ..
C2 B5 D3 .. E6 D2 F3 .. D5 ..

Legend has it that somewhere on this island are located the Dieter's Stein, a magical glass that helps its user lose weight, and the Dieter's Tines, a similarly imbued fork. Samuel Smith and his team of adventurers are on a quest for the Stein, while Trevor Thompson and his team are looking for the Tines. Who will be successful first?
I would like two people to play. Post in this thread whether you'd like to play as Samuel Smith or as Trevor Thompson, and Private Message me one of the 60 locations in the grid above (a letter A-J followed by a number 1-6) in which to hide the item your opponent will be looking for, and the locations in which you will deploy your five adventurers. All five adventurers must start on the perimeter of the island. Note that two or more adventurers may be on the same location. When both players have done so, I will report the explorer's locations, as well as the appropriate "hint number" for each team (2 points for each explorer in the correct location, plus 1 point for each explorer in a location with the correct letter or number).
On each successive turn, the players should Private Message me where they wish to move their explorers. The explorers move as chess queens, and can pass through or land on occupied cells, but cannot pass through or land on water (periods). For example, an explorer can move from J1 (the upper right) to E2, I2, A4, or C3 (or stay put). Once both players have PMed me, I'll post the new locations and new "hint numbers". This process continues until one player has all five explorers on the correct location, and wins.

I think that this would make a decent flash game (with a solo-play option), but I can't see playing it on the discussion board. Besides the speed of the game, I would want to try a couple of games that I would just quit after the first two or three moves, just to work out a starting strategy.
So get coding! |
