For some reason the booth demo we did in SIGGRAPH 2011 was filmed and uploaded by Intel, so if you're curious about it, here's a 2 minute video of me explaining how to use one of the tools we develop and being considerably less fluent in English than I thought I was Felicitous

(There are a couple more, but they're basically the same, with different tools)

Boy, that brings back memories...

Throughout all the various conversations, Antrax offered his opinions in a rapid-fire fashion that reminded me a lot of his chess-play. There's been a few posts made of Ant's 'incomprehensible' style of speaking, so maybe I should give my own take on it.

It's actually, I think, a very nice speaking-voice, a bit deeper than average in tone, nicely modulated, with a bit of an accent. If you were to listen to it strictly as abstract sound, without trying to discern any meaning in it, I think it could almost be described as musical.

Unfortunately, if you are trying to get meaning out of it, you have to ignore the music and focus firmly on the content. I think I've read somewhere that the brain's internal 'speaking voice' runs about 1.5 times faster than the external vocal voice does. If that's true, Ant must be one of those rare individuals whose mouth can actually keep up with their brain. Words and phrases seemed to pour out in an unbroken, lightning-fast speed, requiring my strict concentration to follow along with, since my ears didn't seem to work at '1.5 speed' Despite my best efforts, I occasionally had to ask him to back up and repeat something.

That was back in 2003. Ant, you haven't changed a bit! Felicitous

Or maybe his internal voice is faster still! (Which makes it faster than mine.)

Er...
That doesn't seem overly fast to me.
Sure, the cadence isn't quite what I'd expect so certain words seem to blur by a little bit (especially initialisms) but on the whole it seems pretty normal to me. Maybe that's just from growing up in New England, though I'd have expected Zag to have a similar reaction.

I dunno, you didn't sound like you talked all that quickly to me. My hearing's a big bad and your accent makes it hard for me to understand what you're saying (blame my hearing, trust me), but I didn't think it was particularly too quick.
