Magic the Gathering Players: interested in 3CB?

I am willing to host for anyone who desires a three card blind tournament here on the GL. Don't know what that is? Heres a Link.

basically its a tournament format where each player makes a three card deck that starts with all three cards in your hand, and then the players will play out a match with each player starting once. Ita a fun little format that has seen a lot of forum play, and would love to try it out here.

3CB? What will our ban list be? And yes of course I'm in. I tried running the 5CB after all.

Oh man, the Worship vs 5-land match. I remember spending quite a long time puzzling that out.

Yea, I just took a look at that.

I don't see how the 5-land deck has a chance of winning it.

He doesn't play Karakas until your token is out. You can move to destroy the land, sure, but he'll still be able to destroy your token in response. You then have no way of dealing damage. Therefore, Worship is useless, a non-factor. And, even going first, you can't stop Timmy from coming out.

You CAN blow up both his lands to prevent Timmy from killing you. He can't risk putting Karkas out early, so you blow up the other two lands, and before he can drop Karkas for mana, his Timmy is dead. And since blowing up Karkas after your token hits the field wouldn't save it, you won't bother saving your kills until then.

So it's a draw. No matter who goes first.

Any deck submitted MUST have some win condition. Any deck that can do no better than a draw against any possible deck will be tossed out. and you will have to resubmit.

Yeah it's a lot of banned cards, some from other sites, some from my own personal experiences. I'll be using this list and adding / subtracting as the need arises.

Geeeeze, that's quite the ban list. I don't think you needed to go THAT far

I have another suggestion. It's called "Progressive" 3CB. The first tournament, everything is legal. For the 2nd, the banned list is the entire winning deck from the first tournament. Then add the winning cards from the 2nd, and so on.

that was off a five card blind list, maybe that is a better idea to do the progressive ban lists.

The cool thing is you don't have to actually play the games. You make the deck, and then the mod does all the work calculating who wins each match.

IT's basically 100% meta-gaming.

Well you see, fezzik always helped me build my decks I was pretty decent at playing and devising strategies, but didn't have the knack for actually building decks haha

what do you guys want to do? I plan on doing five rounds, with the top deck's card all getting banned each round, or use the ban list from above fr all five rounds.

and since i am in favor of a growing ban list as well, that is what we will be doing.

okay, each time you will have a week from when signups close (which will be in about 36 hours) Then I'll set up the matches and go from there.

Ok...so for the first round there is no ban list then? (Other than the usual banning of decks that either win or turn one or can force more than one discard)

that is correct, you must not have anything that discards more than one card, or forces a T1 victory.

no ban for first round, then the winner's deck will be the start of a ban list throughout the rounds.

You make a deck of 3 cards. The deck can have anything except it cannot be able to win on turn 1, and it cannot force your opponent to discard for more than one card on turn 1.

You then submit your chosen deck to the moderator. After he has everyones decks, he will tabulate results.

Everyone will play everyone else in 2 games, 1 going first and 1 going second. Perfect play is assumed on both sides. Whoever has the best record overall wins.

Games are played out following normal magic rules, with the only exception being you cannot be "Decked". You never lose a game for running out of cards.

ante, unglued, unhinged, cards that make you discard more than one, are all banned everything else (for now) is NOT legal.

Yea, no. I'm not submitting a deck to someone who's participating in the tournament. Because they can simply look at everyone else's decks and then build one. Once a 3rd part person is chosen, I'll submit my deck.
