I don't think this is buzzworthy. The quotes are there to indicate the text that has to be included. If you take them out of bgg's rule then the bit after the comma doesn't make sense

Thanks to all the spectators for the comments. I thought moderating this game would be easy. It's not.

Quote:
Every rule will reference "Atilla the Hun", exactly like that.

I think it's usual to quote a phrase to highlight it as a single entity using quote marks as the delimiter, hence "Atilla the Hun" is treated as Atilla the Hun (as Zag says).

Then there's the comment exactly like that which confuses the matter and is ambiguous. Had this phrase included the equivalent of including the quote marks then quote marks would have been necessary.

Generally, quote marks would be dropped when repeating the text...so, no buzz.
Sorry bgg, but your turn for a rule.

The juggernaut, "Atilla the Hun", remarked that there will be exactly 1 "q", exactly 1 "p", and exactly 1 "f" in every rule. There will be 4 "x". The game will be mine! Felicitous

I don't see one either. BUZZ for bgg. "The game will be mine!" indeed not!

The game goes to MatthewV. Congratulations and well done.
Phew, I'm glad that's over.

I still have a question over my buzz on MatthewV where his rule self contradicted. Was this disagreed with?

Where was that? Found it

Oh well. I will forbid the number five and the figure for a dollar.

I saw that as forbidding "5" and "$" not the concept of "five". Again a vaguely worded rule which seemed to be a MattV trademark this game. I didn't really see enough to justify the buzz.

Also, bgg objected to the addition of an unrelated comment in the rule post but not at the rule itself, so I deemed it unbuzzworthy.

Some really tough calls though and I was endeavouring to be fair and impartial to all the players.

Yeah to me "the number five and the figure" means both "five" and "5" and definitely should have been buzzed.

I agree with the principle that you don't want the final buzz of the game to be something reasonably debatable. You want it to be a clear buzz, like the one that knocked me out (a damnably hard-to-follow rule at which I clearly failed).

Congrats, MattV!

Thanks for modding, 3iff. As you've learned, the modding of these games is mostly trivial (acknowledging obvious gaffs pointed out by others), with occasional moments of being damnably hard. You had more tough decisions than most, I think.

Indeed a good game, 3iff you did a good job moderating.

And a damnable quality of mine is excellence in the type of behavior that allows me to correctly underline every other character but to just barely follow all the rules.

I thought this last round was going to last a few more turns of insanity. There was no way I was going to screw up (and I think he felt the same way!) Considering we had a long word, no S and O, exact counts of F,Q,X,P, I feel my next rule would have to require more U's than E's. Anyone want to write it for me??

Oh, now I see why Amb was dead-set on the Five issue. He split the phrases of the sentence differently so that a "for a dollar" is left hanging without real meaning.

Another random comment is that after posting a rule, there is a few hours where you wonder if there is a mistake. So seeing a post like "nice rule!" is quite the sigh of relief that nothing had been caught. After my rule that included the fear of really long words in it, two people we buzzing it! It is hard to explain that feeling of oh-shit-what-the-hell-are-they-not-seeing.

It has a real meaning. It says that if someone gives you one dollar, you will prohibit the word "five" and the symbol "5." But on the grounds that we cannot verify whether anyone gave you a dollar, we don't actually know for sure whether these entities are prohibited.

I had a rule in a previous game that required every word to contain a U. IIRC, Zag followed up with "Ouch! U rule hurts!"

To be honest I had no idea why you put the bit about the dollar at the end of your rule.

Congrats MattV for winning! That game was absolutely insane. Also, credit goes to 3iff for lasting the entire game as moderator. You had a tough deal especially for a first time mod Extreme Delectation

The previous game (that I somehow won) was a quiet walk in the park compared to this. On a few occasions I could barely understand some of the rules that had been written.

I was going to stick it out as moderator until the end but thankfully had assistance from some of the spectators.

I agree we needed a clear-cut end to the game and fortunately we had it. I may well do another game of this, but not for a while...I have other diversions to fry my brain.

Well done everyone! I had a great time. There were times when I was glad that I has such a silly mistake early, those later rules were crazy!
