You are the curator of the new Science Center in Puzzlania. The Grand Opening of the Center is in just a few hours, and crowds are already gathering outside, anxious to catch a glimpse of your prize display - the famous Icosahedron Diamond.

The diamond has been kept in an impenetrable vault up until now, but the time has come to move it to its rightful location in the middle of the Science Center. As you go to open the vault, you realize that you can no longer remember the password you had chosen to unlock it.

Thankfully, you were ready for just such a situation, as you keep a password reminder sheet in the middle drawer of your desk. For each password you need to remember, you've designed a puzzle. The one for the Icosahedron Diamond vault password reads:

Leg-to-foot joint (5)
One of Jesus' twelve (7)
Make known, reveal (8)
Not as hard (6)
Vacant, containing nothing (5)
Swore off, renounced (8)
Decorative, not plain (5)
A person who attends a movie (8)
Burn to ashes (10)
Most drivers call them "blinkers" (10)
Some call it a sucker (8)
Moved clumsily and heavily (8)
You might watch your local one at 11pm (8)
Circle a celestial body (5)
Actually, or genuinely (6)
Quick, witty reply (8)
Don't be fooled, the hen really rules this (5)
Renter, or lessee (6)
Out of shape (5)
Crazy, zany (5)
Jerry Yang's venture (5)

Can you figure our your password and save the Grand Opening of the Science Center?

Not as hard (6): EASIER

That leaves
Swore off, renounced (8) (Between EMPTY and FANCY)
Moved clumsily and heavily (8) (Between INDICATORS and LOLLIPOP)

Almost there, and one is my fault. I made a late change to one of the words, but forgot to rearrange it into alphabetical order...Moved heavily and clumsily is between LOLLIPOP and NEWSCAST.

INCINERATOR is close, but is too long and doesn't match the clue format.

REJOINDER is also too long.

I believe you have everything else.

I'd considered LUMBERED, but it wasn't in order; it would be now.

REPARTEE?

INCINERATE

There are a few hints in the text. The Icosahedron Diamond is not one of them, I just popped it in to make the puzzle have that GLP feel.

I'm guessing the "in the middle of" is the clue to which he refers.

K = ANKLE
S = APOSTLE
CL = DISCLOSE
SI = EASIER
P = EMPTY
HE = ESCHEWED
N = FANCY
MG = FILMGOER
NE = INCINERATE
CA = INDICATORS
LI = LOLLIPOP
BE = LUMBERED
SC = NEWSCAST
B = ORBIT
AL = REALLY
AR = REPARTEE
O = ROOST
NA = TENANT
F = UNFIT
C = WACKY
H = YAHOO

Looks like:

Potassium
Sulfur
Chlorine
Silicon
Phosphorus
Helium
Magnesium
Neon
Calcium
Lithium
Berylliun
Scandium
Boron
Aluminum
Argon
Oxygen
Sodium
Fluorine
Carbon
Hydrogen

Nice work, Zag.
Putting the words containing them in periodic table order gives:
YELLOWFRUITFREEADRAIN
which means precisely nothing to me

Looks like it should be DURIAN, except the letters are one off.

I won't hint just yet, as I think someone will come along and figure it out what to make of this.

I will say that Oscar's results are exactly correct, and it's nothing to do with DURIAN (I'd never heard of a durian til now)

Well, I guess that:
YELLOW FRUIT = BANANA and
FREE A DRAIN = UNCLOG

so taking the middle letters of these gives NA CL
i.e. Sodium Chloride or SALT

where salt melting/freeing ice ties in with the diamond theme?

SALT is the correct answer. Excellent work.
