We're less than a week away from the MIT Mystery Hunt. I'm actually an editor (and puzzle writer) on the constructing team this year, so a lot of the puzzles have my fingerprints on them, if not my signature. If you are on a team, there's a pretty good chance you'll work on a puzzle I wrote.

I'm sure I'll be dropping in on a lot of teams this year. Anyone else participating? If so, which team? I'd love to say hi!

Thanks to all who came. We got a lot of very positive feedback, which is great considering it basically ate a year of my life.

If anyone's interested in a Mystery Hunt recast like we did with the Microsoft Hunt, I can run such a thing. I seem to have a lot of time on my hands these days...

Perhaps the most frustrating thing about the MIT hunt in particular is the sheer volume of puzzles compressed into a short space of time. Especially if you are on a smallish team, meaning that after about halfway the deluge of puzzles is just enormous and the temptation to look at new stuff instead of pursuing older unsolved but almost complete ones is too great to pass up.
Plus you can all but guarantee that you will completely miss seeing the puzzle that you happen to have some specialist knowledge in! (Although this year one of my subjects came up in the first batch of puzzles and I had done the first part in about three minutes without needing to look anything up...)
