So...how does this impact the switch to 3.0?

We talked about this in scumchat, but I don't guess I posted anything here. The plan is as follows:

1. Set up new server, along with a "fallout shelter" to allow us to communicate on there during the move.
2. Move the databases and forum/wiki software as-is.
3. Migrate to phpbb3 at some point in the future (when we can get all the modifications transfered and hopefully link the wiki logins to the forum, and anything else that needs to be done).

Really, this hasn't changed much, other than the obvious "site being down while we're moving" annoyance. There was a possibility we would migrate to phpbb3 before moving servers (in hopes that our only problem on bluehost was that phpbb2 was poorly optimized), but it was always more likely we would move servers first. And fortunately, the suspension happened just as my schedule was freeing up. Between the holidays (lots of stuff going on with family and the girlfriend) and the thesis... well, let's just say the site might have been down a lot longer had this happened a few weeks ago.

Step 4 done. I've pointed the domain at the new server. Try www.mafiascum.net to see if it has propagated for you yet. Right now, there's just a message pointing you to the fallout shelter, but hopefully most users will check and see that once the DNS has propagated, even if they aren't on here/scumchat/the-grapevine.

And now I'm going to bed. jeep has the server info in case he has free time tonight to start the moving process; otherwise, I'll see what I can do tomorrow.

The forum and wiki are back up, now. If your DNS hasn't propagated, you will still be able to read them at http://67.222.17.61/ , but you probably won't be able to log in until you can access the site via http://www.mafiascum.net .

[edit]Because of the DNS issues, I've temporarily set things up so that you will be able to log in via the first link; if you are able to access the site via the domain name, this won't affect your access, though you will probably have to log in again.[/edit]

I told him to wait a week and give himself a well deserved break and then get to it. I don't think he listened, though.

All you need to do is REPAIR TABLE 'sessions' (or 'phpbb_sessions'). It happens in phpBB from time to time.

FYI: I rebooted the mafiascum server, and it hasn't come back yet. Could just be taking longer than I would have expected, or it could be hung up on whatever is causing all the slowness. I've sent KH a message about it, though, so it should be back up soon.
