Clearly not self-evident, since it isn't even necessarily true.
Hint: substitute "lava pool" for universe and you'll see why. (You haven't proven that you have to be inside a universe to observe it.) |

The thought did cross my mind, at the time of writing, to fill in a few of the blanks, like that "universe" means that which contains everything (unlike the lava pool, which I'd presumably observe from outside).
And Thok is correct - the observer need not be living. |
