I'm pretty convinced that:

1) We need the names from the Power Laps board, given the hints that LK has given us

2) The names as listed on the board are not available online.

As an example, Koenigsegg is written on the board as Koenigseggisseggggnignigsegigisegggg, so any site that bothered to list the names of the cars as they appear on the board should findable.

A search on Koenigseggisseggggnignigsegigisegggg seems to turn up plenty of listings of the Power Laps times. Unfortunately all of them appear to list the official name of the car, rather than the name written on the board, with just an explanation for the odd spelling of Koenigseggisseggggnignigsegigisegggg

So, it looks like we're expected to purchase seasons 6 through 16 on DVD to crack this one.

MNO, is the Aston Martin DB5 listed as just "DB5" on the board? That would give us a three letter car.

A good start... but I think we need something additional (and probably Linnaeus-related). With just that information you can determine which grid squares have the 4 plants (for instance), but how to determine which one has rosa and which has prunus?

I have a very nasty feeling the disambiguation has something to do with Latin declension (as in "amo, amas, amat")
Since I spectacularly failed my Latin exam at school (albeit that was getting on for 30 years ago now!), I am ever so slightly unwilling to revisit that...*

Could I also propose that the suggested sets are, in fact, animal, vegetable, mineral and "abstract", which would provide a good Linnaeus link (presumably the somewhat odd choice of actual words is due to constraints in the answer extraction part...)

But I would guess that each set has one of four different types of ending so that they can form the "cross" groups to enable a Latin square to be constructed.
I can see one group is probably:
puella, rosa, tuba, ira
... but I am very unsure of the others. I haven't yet tried using the given entries in the grid to see if that sorts them all out though. (A 4x4 latin square shouldn't be too hard to solve!)



* having said that, a year or so ago I wrote a Latin phrases puzzle about three weeks prior to the previous MIT Hunt which happened to include an almost identical puzzle - so I managed to solve that one without too much trouble! But that was about pseudo-Latin translation, not about grammar so it probably doesn't count.
