Hi all. I figure tonight would be as good a time as any to make a moderating bid. I am in the process of PMing Ctorj to seek approval as we speak (In case the creator of said format denies me Revenge most foul!) and am currently looking to host a sequel to the famed (nearly) 7 year old game "Random Lynch # Mafia".

The premise? Fairly straightforward, each day phase the number to lynch is set randomly and is anonymous to the players at large. Along with the anonymous vote # theme, the original game implemented a random element in nearly each and every role in the game. The sequel may or may not follow some of that. (Random?)

Here is the ruleset to the original game (#12 of the additional rules subsection is helpful to those who may wish to relieve some of the burden of the randomness):
Ctorj wrote:
THE RULES (stolen from Mgm, mostly, as usual)
[00] Newbies should try to make themselves familiar with the basic rules of mafia as described in the FAQ and theory sections on http://www.mafiascum.net (Reading my or Mgm's older games wouldn't hurt either)
[01] Have fun and don't be a jerk. Please have consideration for the other players and the mod, and actually PLAY the game by posting and voting. If you cannot post for some reason, please contact the mod.
[02] No communication outside the thread unless your role allows you to do so.
[03] Get your choices in before the deadlines. If not, no choice will be made.
[04] No quoting role PMs or night messages. If you have a death wish, request replacement. When in doubt ask the mod.
[05] If you're dead YOU'RE DEAD. No more posting relevant information after that. One bah post is allowed.
[06] Lynching will be carried out once the random number votes needed (known only by the mod) is reached.
[07] Only votes in BOLD will be counted. Unvotes are mandatory.
[08] Only votes with players correctly spelled names (or abbreviations, see player list) will count.
[09] Do NOT edit or delete your posts under pain of modkilling! If you made a coding error, just post again.
[10] Do NOT post in invisible text or at night.
[11] The mod is always right. Deal with it.

Additional rules:
[12] The number needed for a lynch will always be at most 2 less than the total number of players alive at that time. (Example: If there are 10 alive, then the maximum number needed for a lynch that will be randomly chosen will be 8) In the unlikely event of a day kill, the number will be dropped if certain conditions are met.
[13] Deadlines will be put on when conversation drops. Note: If the number needed for a lynch is not met, then there is no lynch!
[14] Lynches will be carried out once the number is reached. However, this being the land of randomness, if the mod gets online and someone unvotes before the mod catches it, then there is no lynch.
[15] If possible, please pm all questions to the mod unless you see the answer as benefitting for everyone.
[16] If the required number of votes is reached by multiple parties, then the person with the most votes overall will be lynched.

Hopefully, with any luck, Ctorj is reached and some sort of deal can be arranged. Enthusiastic Grin In the meantime, I'll take the plunge and glean any interest in the current face of the Mafia Games crowd. When I first read over the game, the format seemed to prompt the most interesting reactions from players. A good exercise in town paranoia. Out of the handful of Mafia Game formats that have been given a sequel or sequels, Random Lynch # seemed like it belonged in that pile.

So, what's the wait? Join up for the unpredictable lynch #'s and the ever present omnipotent townies. (Kidding!)

Starting with an earnest amount. Let's see who we get...may the amount be random.

What an awesome idea! Ctorj is da man.

Question: Is it linearly random? That is, suppose there are 9 players -- is the number to lynch simply a random choice from 1-7, with each number having equal probability?

The rules themselves seem to state that any given number could only occur once, so ideally it'd follow something like that. Revenge most foul! Once 6 appeared it would be taken out of the pool, and so on.

Giving this one a love bump, that MNOWAX neglected to do. Revenge most foul!

When I called the idea awesome, above, I assumed you'd know that meant "in" as well. I'm in.

That reminds me of a quote I once misheard,

Sweet, I don't expect filling up to be all that generous, but I am weighing options and just seeing if we can get more. At least enough to enjoy the theme of the format.

Need to take a break for a game or two. If I'm feeling up to it when it rolls a round, and there's space, I'll back in. Felicitous
