You gesture for Ophiuchus to follow you up the stairs. The two of you find Scorpio, Gemini, and Aries holding back a trio of wyverns, who appear to have come in through a large hole in the outer wall. The female Gemini looks over at you. "Any help would be greatly appreciated. Scorpio's Poison Wave won't last forever given what month it is."

Scorpio, the male Gemini, Aries, Pisces, Taurus, and Aquarius will all stand against the eclipse one day. Make of that what you will.

Ophiuchus quickly darts between the Zodiac members and the wyverns threatening them. The wyverns hiss at him to get out of the way.

You cast Freezing Mist. You immobilize two of the wyverns. The third wyvern starts to entangle himself with yours.

You summon a fey. They fey darts in and starts clawing the free wyvern. Scorpio unleashes a poison wave on the immobilized wyverns. Gemini unleash a double skyburst on the free wyvern. Aries wreaths one of his arms in flame.

You shoot the free wyvern with a magic arrow. It falls limp, freeing Ophiuchus. Ophiuchus pulls back from the battle. Scorpio shoots one of the wyverns with a magic arrow. Gemini unleash another double skyburst, this time on one of the immobilized wyverns. Aries moves in to punch Ophiuchus.

You shoot one of the immobilized wyverns with a magic arrow. Ophiuchus cries out in alarm. Scorpio shouts at Aries. "Leave that one alone, it's on our side you inobservant twit." Gemini unleashes another double skyburst on the immobilized wyvern. Aries takes a swing at Ophiuchus.

You shoot one of the immobilized wyverns with a magic arrow. The ice breaks as the wyvern slumps to the floor. Ophiuchus is flapping around in a panic. Scorpio sends a venom strike at Aries. Aries doubles over in agony. Gemini fells the last hostile wyvern with another double skyburst.

Scorpio turns to you. "I'm sorry about Aries' behavior; he is generally more reasonable when it comes to allies."

Aries scoffs. "I know only two things about you for certain, wizard. You managed to break into the single most heavily protected part of this castle, and you befriended a wyvern. What's your game?"

You have forgotten that I also came up to save your ass rather than running away from the combat when I could have.

I don't play games. Until you, I have been treated with kindness as I am lost in a world that is not my own. I have tried to return that kindness; that is all. In my world your fortress is in ruins and everyone is gone. I don't know why I am here or how I got here. Can't explain how I became a wizard other than reading a few scrolls. Not sure why The Wyvern befriended me, but I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth in a time of need.

So Aries, what is your game? Whose side are you on besides your own? Or are you just charging in without really thinking about it as I assume it is your habit of doing, by your title, of course.

Scorpio intervenes. "That's enough. Aries, apologize. We can ill afford to anger someone who could provide for us valuable assistance."

Aries glares at Scorpio. "I will not take the risk of this wizard betraying the Queen." He turns to you. "However, I do acknowledge that this is neither the time nor place to be confronting you over your motives. You would do well to rid yourself of that necklace, however. The raiders we've come across are using them to track each other and coordinate their efforts."

The queen has asked me to help and I want nothing more. I respect your need for caution though. I expect to be watched closely by everyone. I also hope to build trust and I get the feeling there isn't much time.

The necklaces are very powerful it seems. I noticed that it provided a telepathic connection; however, they were able to sever it at their will. I did feel as though I could be watched when I had it on, but the feeling left when I took it off. But they could still be tracking the necklace. Aries, would you be able to destroy it?

Also, how does one normally befriend a Wyvern? It happened quite by accident (this seems to happen to me a lot, like I am a good accident just waiting to happen.) It may be a useful skill if we are to face more of the raiders. At first I thought that was what the necklace was for.

Scorpio looks over at Ophiuchus. "Wyverns generally befriend those who they believe will be kind and gentle to them, just like most other animals. The Raiders, however, have some sort of device that allows their leader to control wyverns against their will. It is very remarkable that this one was able to shake free of the Wyvern Hook's control for your sake."

Aries takes the necklaces and burns them with his flaming hands. "That should at least keep them from tracking us, though the raiders will likely head to this location."

Gemini shrug. "One of us should meet up with the others and let them know we are no longer in need of further assistance up here."

You hear the sounds of wings flapping on the other side of the hole. Ophiuchus looks ready for a fight.

Before anyone can respond, an ink-black wyvern ridden by a human in very uncomfortable-looking armor flies into the hole. The human jumps off and brandishes an ink-black shield. "I'm sorry I'm late, Inky had a stomach ache and... hey, you're not a raider!"

Can we capture him alive?!?

Cast Paralytic Flare on the Raider.

[raekuul]

You cast Paralytic Flare on the raider. The raider is paralyzed! Inky the Wyvern trumpets out a bizarre sound.

Scorpio groans. "Gemini, go get the others. We need an army."

The main difference between Paralytic Flare and Freezing Mists is how the immobilization is overcome. Paralytic Flare will end once the paralyzed creature is attacked and can end if the paralyzed creature overcomes it, but has the potential to last indefinitely. Freezing Mists lasts for three rounds or until a sound-based ability is used, and cannot be overcome by the immobilized creature.

You summon a fey and instruct it to attack Inky the Wyvern. Your own wyvern trumpets a loud warning at Inky the Wyvern. Gemini leave the scene. Scorpio raises her staff. Aries wreathes his hands in flame.

Inky the Wyvern spreads his wings and starts flapping furiously.

You stab at Inky with your spear. Your fey claws at Inky. Scorpio strikes Inky with her staff. Aries swings at Inky.

Inky the Wyvern unleashes an unearthly howl, pushing you all back. Your fey is unsummoned. The armored raider is still immobile.

You close in on Inky and bop him on the nose with the base of your spear. Inky looks at you as though he can't believe you just did that.

The armored raider is still immobile. Inky looks at the armored raider, as though asking 'what now?'

Inky roars at you to be quiet. Ophiuchus growls at Inky.

The Zodiac members just stand in disbelief.

Tell Inky, " You be quiet! He is hurting our home. He should go."

Can I see the Rider's necklace. If I cab dystroy it with out harming him attempt to do that.

TO the others, "what we were doing wasn't working I had to try something eles."

Inky growls at you as you approach the armored raider. Despite your best efforts, you cannot find a necklace on this one.

Gently reach out to Inky. Worst it can do is hurt right?

[raekuul]

You reach out to Inky, who snaps at you.

The armored raider breaks free from your Paralytic Flare, but doesn't move. "You get bitten, it's your funeral. Inky's not like other wyverns."

[itisally]

Attempt to grab his foot and flip him off.

"So much for trying to make nice, What is with you people anyways!"

You grab for the Raider's armored foot. He kicks you in the shoulder with the other foot. Inky stands his ground. Your wyvern cries in distress at seeing you attacked.

The armored raider laughs at you. "You must be new to the whole 'fighting armored opponents' thing, so I'll be gentle." He kicks you again. Scorpio raises her staff, but doesn't attack for fear of catching you with the attack. Aries lances some fire at the armored raider.

Your light bolt is absorbed by the armored raider's armor. The raider backs away and leaps onto Inky's back. Scorpio takes this opportunity to unleash her Poison Wave at the invaders. Aries lances more fire at the Raider. Inky the Wyvern trumpets a loud call. Ophiuchus the wyvern comes over to you and tries to lick your wounds. Inky looks unsteady. The armored raider looks unsteady.

The raider speaks. "Astra would be wise to move this castle sooner rather than later. I am quite curious to see how your presence changes the outcome, Wizard. I am certain we shall meet again."

With that, the armored raider retreats. You hear in the back of your mind a message. 'All units retreat.'

Or is it my presence that makes it all fall apart. I hate time paradox. And who is to say what is best. One thing is for sure, this reteat will not last and me being here may cause them to redouble thier efforts.

You get in one final strike against the armored raider. The raider's armor catches fire, and it disappears with a snap of the raider's fingers. The raider turns out to be a female of approximately your height, with shoulder length hair. Before you can take another shot, her and Inky have flown out of view.0

Aries groans. "I didn't know your sister was a telepath, Scorpio."

Scorpio frowns. "We'll just add it to the list of things she'll have to answer for once Tilerna finally catches up to her." Scorpio turns to you. "The fact that we have yet to be visited by Tilerna about your situation suggests that your presence will not create an unsolvable paradox. Believe me, you're not the first person to be stranded in the wrong era, and you won't be the last so long as the Time Tunnel exists."

You hear the sounds of approaching feet. Aries takes this opportunity to answer your question about their motives. "The raiders, led by Scorpio's sister, believe that the Astral Library - whose defenses are powered by the Scrolls of the Ancients, three of which you had in your possession when you arrived - should be open to any and all. Astra doesn't want that because the Astral Library also contains the Eight Prophecies of Astra The First, and we Zodiacs don't want that to happen because the defenses on the library are our finest work. Plus the fact that Astra and Vulcan were working on an Ultimate Starship in their final days and likely hid the information in the Astral Library."
