I can't say how remarkably, as I don't know what other people eat. Chuck is the only one who reports consistently. I hesitate to mention it, lest I disturb it, which would ... I don't know ... I guess I'd adjust, eventually. |

Are you guys saying that you actually read Chuck's menus? I thought it was just a reason to post a food-related comic every week (which I have thoroughly enjoyed, by the way). _________________

Does it spit on your notebook and stuff you in a locker?
Or, do you mean statistically average?

Everybody's a comic...
I intended that the pizza crust spits on other pizza crusts' notebooks and stuffs those crusts into lockers. _________________ Paragon Tally: 19 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |

So, my daughter and I are going to try out for MasterChef when they come to Boston next month. While I have made a few gourmet meals, I really don't have the innate talent that she does. She's been practicing and trying different dishes, and she has settled on this for her tryout meal.
It is a "Borsht Pastie," a savory pastry filled with the core of borsht, which is beef and beets. She used oxtail for the beef (my suggestion) which gives it an incredibly rich, beefy flavor. The pastry has dill in it, and is made with butter and lard. (If you know pastry, lard is what takes pastry from good to great, as long as you don't use too much.)
At the tryout, there is no chance to do any cooking -- you only have 5 minutes to talk to the judges while you plate. She chose this because it is a traditional meal that Russian peasants would make to bring with them out to the fields. The pastry would keep the filling hot until lunch. But if they tasted this good, I can't imagine they would be able to wait until lunch. Since her specialty is "peasant food around the world" it is a great blend of her specialty and the situation of the tryout.

Ummm, yes please!
I quite like Borsht and pastries (and Russian culture), so you sold me right there. I don't see how that could go wrong. Take luck! _________________ Paragon Tally: 19 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |
