So ... I've been slowly getting into photography, street scenes being a favorite subject. But I've always been fascinated with little auditory snapshots, things you overhear on a bus or a train or wherever. Things that never and couldn't get recorded. With pics, you see something, it stays the same for a while, long enough to take a picture. You overhear a great bit of conversation on a bus, and it's over.

So, I was in New Orleans recently, had to pee, go into a place (they have lots of places) and use the restroom. It's empty, except for a guy in a stall on his mobile. Voice sounds maybe early 20s. "So can you wire me 60 bucks? I'll pay you back as soon as I get back and get paid." ... long pause ... person on other end can't be heard. I'm done peeing, but jiggle it a while so I can listen. Then "Because I'm afraid of Dad".

In grocery line..

little kid speaking to adult chaperone/parent figure: Can I please?! Come on, please?! (said while wiggling, squirming in a general vertical direction and pointing at a candy-bar display)

adult chaperone Okay, I guess so.

little kid He likes me today! He likes me today! (spoken very loudly with same wiggling and squirming motions)

Walmart, a group of teenage boys doing back to school shopping:

One: We could get some binders for organization.
Two: Nah, I'm not going to organize, see how that works out for me.
