Turn 13 Resolution:
MNO: 5
“Alright, men. I’ve got one more place I think he will be,” lies Jack. “We’ll go check there then head back to the main group. Got it?”
“Yes, sir!” the soldiers shout back.
“Keep it down, will ya?” Jack chides the soldiers before he takes off jogging down the corridor. Seven this way, two left. We’re going to take these lizard f**** head on.
A short time later, Jack and the soldiers arrive one corridor past the breach, situating it between their position and the main group. A number of Princua are milling around, apparently supposed to be holding the position. They are chatting to each other in their foreign, lizard tongue. A little further down the corridor, a group is forming up to go assault part of the ship. A few seconds later they head off down a side corridor.
“Okay, men. I lied to you. We’re going to take out these Princua holding the breach, and we’re going to make a stand here until the rest of the company can join us. Show me they still train you guys well.”
Event: Jack is at the breach with the company of soldiers. There are four Princua standing guard, albeit in a somewhat leisurely fashion.
Elethiomel: 4
“Comlink, activate,” Dee commands his towel.
“What the hell was that?” Dee hears from the other side of the link. He sucks in some air and barks out some commands in his best impression of Jack.
“Listen here, you dimwits! We’ve got the C-17 corridor secured. You take your regiment and flank the approaching Princua. I want you to thrust them in the rear, HARD!”
That ought to do it.
novice: 2
“Hey, guys. Are you excited to kill some of these disgusting lizard freaks? I’m so ready. I’ve been practicing my ‘nade throwing,” says Zip with as much bravado as he can muster. A few of the nearby soldiers snigger.
“You look like a damn fool, boy,” remarks one of the older soldiers. “I’m not quite sure what you think you’re going to do with us, but you’re not going to be throwing explosives over my shoulder.”
Zip deflates a little at the reception of his attempt to make friends. It was worth a try.
Monk: 5
Constable Reggie steels himself as he prepares to convince the young woman to go help his friends. “Look, I know we started off on the wrong foot, but I need to say something. My friends are out there, and although I may look like a coward, I’m not. I should be helping them and helping to defend this ship. Let’s go together and find some way to be useful as we push back the Princua. I know I’m not as winsome as I sometimes imagine myself to be, but will you do this with me?”
The words seem to hang in the air for what feels like an eternity. The woman just stares back at him with a look of strained credulity. Reggie shuffles a little on his feet. Finally, the woman breaks the silence with a small smile. “Sure, we can do that. It’s what I’ve been wanting to do all along.”
“If that’s so, then why were you holing up in here?” asks Reggie in a puzzled voice.
“I’m holed up in here because my decoy is on the bridge. I’m supposed to look like a nobody who doesn’t need to be interrogated for information like command codes and military secrets.” Reggie’s puzzlement spreads across his face as she says these things.
“I’m the captain.”
3iff: 6

A small beep emanates from the towel as Suzy turns around to look at the object which clanked to the floor from the towel. “What the hell was that?” she says in the direction of the mystery object.
“Listen here, you dimwits! We’ve got the C-17 corridor secured. You take your regiment and flank the approaching Princua. I want you to thrust them in the rear, HARD!” shouts a voice from the towel. It startles Suzy to the point of almost dropping the towel. She and Tank exchange raised eyebrows.
“Is that your towel?” inquires Tank.
“Roommate's. I’m not really sure what it does, but it supposedly has special powers. That’s probably where that voice came from,” responds Suzy. “I think we should check out the status of the escape pods. I’ll use my fancy qComp and see what I can find.” The qComp accesses the network, determines the location, then tells Suzy in bright letters which scroll across the screen, JUST STICK YOUR HEAD BETWEEN YOUR LEGS AND KISS YOUR ASS GOODBYE.
“Well, that wasn’t very helpful,” states Tank somewhat unhelpfully. “I’m sure there’s an access portal down the corridor here. I’ll go see if we can find a way to the nearest bank of pods even if they’re all gone. At least then we might run into some other survivors.” He jogs a short way away, fiddles with the portal, then comes back with news. “It told me the same thing. I guess we’re on our own.” _________________ Paragon Tally: 18 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |

Notes to self: Must get a new (better) roommate after this is over...someone without talking towels.
Action: Operate the towel commlink. "Is that you Dee? This is Suzy. We don't have a regiment. There's just two of us, Myself and Tank, unarmed. We're in the laundry room - don't ask. Looks like there are no escape pods left. We're NOT going to flank the Princua ...or have sex with them."
To Tank: "If they're on C-17 then maybe we could join them if we can get there safely? My qComp will paint out the route if we need it...or we can go pretty much anywhere you suggest." |

Well blimey marm where are me manners. Constable Reggie late of Inspector Spacetimes Timeline Patrol at your service. It would be an honor to lend you my services. I only made her plot relevant because you rolled a five, and I only introduced her in the first place because of your actions in the room. The same is true of the squad of soldiers. They were created because MNO rolled a five when wanting reinforcements. The only thing I have had in mind was you guys saving the ship...eventually. If that happens, we'll go from there.
Still, I think I will enjoy writing that part of the story. _________________ Paragon Tally: 18 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |

Turn 14 Resolution:
MNO: 1
The soldiers take cover positions as Jack prepares to fire. He lines up the nearest Princua in his sights, but just as he pulls the trigger, one of the soldiers runs in front of him trying to get a better position. The projectile tears the soldier’s chest open, and exits slightly off-target, missing the Princua’s head ever-so-slightly. The Princua are jolted out of their complacency and begin to return fire. As the soldiers see their comrade go down so gruesomely, they are momentarily frozen and give the Princua a quick upper-hand.
“Goddamn it!”
Elethiomel: 3
After realizing what the voice was, Suzy miraculously controls the towel well enough to communicate back. “Is that you, Dee? This is Suzy. We don’t have a regiment. There’s just two of us, myself and Tank, unarmed. We’re in the laundry room – don’t ask. Looks like there are no escape pods left. We’re NOT going to flank the Princua…or have sex with them.”
Dee is somewhat crestfallen at hearing the news that they won’t have sex, regardless of with whom, but he instructs Suzy’s towel to begin recording things anyway. The towel is apparently somewhat hampered though, so it will only capture audio for the time being. It will have to do.
novice: 5
Zip just shrugs off the laughter of the soldiers and decides to log onto the qNet for news about the Princua. He sees a few of their statuses of Fadebook:
“Puny humans entering our territory will die.”
“I would rather be sunbathing back on Timoota.”
“Snorgloc does a great impression of a fleeing human.”
Zip even catches a few pictures of the apparently very wild party the night before in which certain female entertainers were running their tongues over…well, it’s probably best that Zip wasn’t sure what they were running their tongues over. The alcohol looked top-notch though. Just when Zip thought he wouldn’t find anything useful, he sees a post by the Princua captain which tells their battle plans and some troop movements for the initial waves. This could be useful and even win him some points with the men.
“Sergeant! I have some news for your Lieutenant about the Princua’s plans.”
Zip has intimate knowledge of the Princua battle plans. He will receive a +/- toward a 5 on battle rolls.
Monk: 4
After picking his jaw up off the floor, Reggie gathers his senses, puffs up his chest, and begins to articulate his plan. “We’ll head toward the bridge, but we’ll stop at a supply room on the way and grab some gear in case we run into a tough spot. Plus, I’ve got my magic whistle.”
“I think that’s favorable,” replies the captain, “but the Second won’t really like it when he discovers that I’m not hiding out like the protocol commands.”
“Well, he can boil his head…both of them. Let’s go.”
They quickly unblock the door, though Reggie doesn’t help much because of his injured wrist. They cross the anteroom, glance around the corridor from the outer door, then head toward the bridge away from the small company of soldiers just out of sight in the other direction. A few hundred yards away they stop at a supply room.
3iff: 5
Sentran: 3
“Why don’t you try Dee again and let him know our status,” suggests Tank.
“That seems like a good idea. If only I can figure out how to do that…” Suzy tweaks the towel some and thinks about Dee then says, “Is that you, Dee? This is Suzy. We don’t have a regiment. There’s just two of us, myself and Tank, unarmed. We’re in the laundry room – don’t ask. Looks like there are no escape pods left. We’re NOT going to flank the Princua…or have sex with them.”
“Good. Now that you’ve got that done, we should head toward the bridge. I’m sure we can meet up with some soldiers and coordinate our efforts,” proposes Tank.
“Alright, let’s go.”
The two of them jog in the direction of the bridge. They have to divert a few teams to go around a damaged passageway or otherwise malfunctioning blast door. Eventually though, they arrive at the bridge. “When you said ‘bridge,’ I didn’t know you meant this,” ventures Suzy. Before them is a long bridge spanning a chasm which overlooks the central corridor of the ship. On either side all down the inscrutable “cliffs” are office and residence windows which tower above the engine and main power supply.
“Now what?” asks Suzy. _________________ Paragon Tally: 18 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |

I think I was a little generous this time allowing Suzy to accompany Tank even though they had separate actions. I may keep it up because you are very intrinsically linked at this point, so don't feel like you need to post the same actions as each other. Just beware that an unfavorable roll or my own whim might cause you to split up. For now, I think it's good for the story.
Also, the story is up to nearly 10k words. I don't know whether to be impressed by the feat or depressed at how much time I've spent writing. _________________ Paragon Tally: 18 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |

Turn 15 Resolution:
MNO: 3
“Not so fast, slimy walkers,” mutters Jack as he aims to fire again. He shoots off a few quick rounds into the knot of them, the bullets either grazing their arms or piercing the walls behind them. Still, the Princua disperse somewhat to take cover from Jack's fire, which gives the men a breather to even out the fighting.
Elethiomel: 4
“Charlie, did you see that soldier’s vitals go dark? It seems like the men Jack took with him have encountered some enemies. He didn’t have a very strong force. We should take some reinforcements and save his sorry ass,” says Dee.
(Maybe you should calculate a route to Command using the qComp. Make sure it’s a safe route.)
“I don’t know. The Lieutenant really wants to hold this position. If the Princua get past us here, there isn’t much to stop them from getting to the refuge zones where the civilians are,” replies Charlie. “I suppose you could talk to him if you think he’ll listen.”
“I’ll make him listen,” Dee mutters menacingly. He marches over to the Lieutenant who is talking with Zip.
“…scouts from the breach directly in our path. If we can hold the breach, I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard for other patrols to round up the rest…”
“Lieutenant! The men you sent with Jack are under attack, and it doesn’t look like they are faring well. We need to send reinforcements and help them out. I won’t take no for an answer,” barks Dee.
“These people just don’t understand who is in charge around here, do they?” the Lieutenant says under his breath. “Listen, I’m the one in charge of this unit, and they do what I say. I’ve got orders from the people above me to hold this position, and that’s what I intend to do. Now, your buddy Zip here was just informing me that he has special knowledge of the enemy’s plans. He says we need to strike at the breach, and I don’t see how that is a bad idea. I’ve got a score of men here, but I’ll send you with five of them to back up Jack. If you fail, by God I will find you and kill you myself.”
Dee shrugs off the threat, turns, and returns to Charlie. “He gave us the green light. Grab your buddies and let’s go.”
The men head out in a sprint toward the breach. Soon, they see the Princua firing on Jack and the accompanying soldiers. Charlie calls a halt and explains the situation. “Now, we don’t want to have crossfire problems where our stray bullets are hitting friendlies and vice-versa. We’ll have to fan out down this cross corridor and fire at the Princua opposite us, and we’ll have to do it fast. I’m sure they also have reinforcements coming soon. Get into position quietly so we can take these buggers by surprise. Dee, you stay with me.”
The soldiers get into position, and Dee readies for his first battle.
Event: Dee is at the breach with a group of soldiers preparing to “thrust them in the rear.”

The Sergeant escorts Zip over to the Lieutenant and says, “Sir, this civvy says he has some news about the Princua. I’m not sure what he’s talking about or where he got his information.”
The Lieutenant glances over Zip’s armor arrangement and sighs. “What do you want?” he asks somewhat wearily.
“I found some of the enemy’s plans on the qNet. I know what their initial attack phase is. They have made their staging area just inside the breach, and they are sending scouts from the breach directly in our path. If we can hold the breach, I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard for other patrols to round up the rest…” begins Zip before Dee marches over and cuts him off.
“Lieutenant! The men you sent with Jack are under attack, and it doesn’t look like they are faring well. We need to send reinforcements and help them out…” hears Zip before he decides he should probably find a suitable weapon if there is to be upcoming fighting. He scowls briefly at Dee for interrupting him, then delves into his bag for something which might pack a big punch. After a few minutes he finds an unloaded pistol.
Zip is now carrying an unloaded pistol.

“Let’s go in here and find something to bind your wrist,” suggests the captain. “Don’t tell me you don’t need it because I’ve seen you wince when you use it.”
Reggie bites back a retort, and follows the captain into the store room. They quickly find some medical supplies, and the captain quickly binds Reggie’s wrist, albeit somewhat insensitively.
“That should put you right as rain,” remarks the captain before barking out a short laugh. “God! I haven’t seen rain in a decade. I used to love it. Well, this isn’t the time for nostalgia. We should see what else is in here which we could use. I don’t know what lies between us and Command.”
Reggie’s wrist has been bound. He will receive a -1 to actions requiring manual dexterity for 1 more round.

“Maybe you should calculate a route to Command using the qComp. Make sure it’s a safe route. We don’t exactly have the equipment to dispatch a squad of Princua,” offers Tank.
Suzy quickly enters the parameters into the qComp. She discovers they are pretty far off course and there are quite a lot of Princua between them and Command, but there should be a safe route to Command. How in the world did the Princua get so far so fast? “I’ve got it.”
They run quickly down the corridors with Suzy announcing the turns as they come up. Suddenly, they turn a corner and see some Princua fighting a small group of soldiers. There are a lot of casualties on both sides. Thankfully, they don’t garner much attention, and Tank snags a dropped assault rifle as they adjust course and go around. Eventually, they arrive at Command and see that all hell has broken loose.
Event: Tank and Suzy have arrived at Command which is in disarray.
Tank has an assault rifle with 200 rounds. _________________ Paragon Tally: 18 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |
