We haven't had a new puzzle here in a while. Here's the solution to the last one, in case someone wants to take over:
... HEAR NO EVIL
The phrase "hear no evil" typically follows "see no evil", which is indicated by the elipsis. Sign language works for those who "hear no evil", so convert to Braille for those who can "see no evil".

I just tossed this together since this thread has been dead for so long. It's probably not very good, but at least it gets us moving since we're stuck on the juggling in the MIT hunt.
BANK ROBBERY
Your outlaw gang has spotted the next bank they plan on robbing. To let you know where to meet them, they sent you the following letter:
Respond instictively (1)
Float (3)
Uprisings (8)
Cost (2)
Ire (6)
Ointment (4)
Facial feature for men (5)
Childish response to "Are too!" (3)
He found the polio vaccine (5)
Dead man (3)
Private, Sergeant, etc. (2)
Demons (7) _________________ Password is all one word, all lowercase, no spaces, unless otherwise indicated. |

I'm not sure what to do with this... I'll just throw out some suggestions.
REACT - Respond instictively (1)
DRIFT - Float (3)
RIOTS - Uprisings (8)
PRICE - Cost (2)
ANGER - Ire (6)
SALVE - Ointment (4)
BEARD - Facial feature for men (5)
AMNOT - Childish response to "Are too!" (3)
J.SALK / SABIN - He found the polio vaccine (5)
BODY / STIFF - Dead man (3)
RANK(S) - Private, Sergeant, etc. (2)
DEVILS - Demons (7)

The correct words are of varying lengths. Given that this is poorly constructed, I thought I'd give you that.
You'll likely need to identify the next step to confirm your suggestions as correct incorrect. You have 6 of the intended answers (with a little cleanup). _________________ I hate people who try to write interesting things in their signature. |

My thought was that taking the letters in the nth position in the word would spell either the answer or a final clue.
Respond instictively (1) React
Float (3) riSe
Uprisings (8) revolutIons
Cost (2) pRice
Ire (6) annoyAnce
Ointment (4) balM
Facial feature for men (5) mustAche
Childish response to "Are too!" (3) am Not
He found the polio vaccine (5) jonaS salk
Dead man (3) coRpse
Private, Sergeant, etc. (2) rAnk
Demons (7) succubI?
rsira mansrai, however, has no meaning, and I can't make it meaningful by changing a few answers, so I too, am stuck.
Maybe they're supposed to be anagrams, and they'll meet at the friar marinas? _________________ The one member below 18 |

Thanks Oscar, and nicely solved.
I did like the finish (which is where I started the construction, obviously), but I didn't like the unwieldiness of having to provide both a word length and the other number.
I wish I could have come up with a better way to clue the word list from post 980; I would have been much happier with the puzzle then. _________________ I hate people who try to write interesting things in their signature. |

I coulda gone with cryptics, but then I'd still have the issue of needing to list two numbers.
Anyhow, do you notice a common attribute among all the words on the list? That might help give you a place to start.
Or you might start with the fact you're looking for a bank, based on the letter in the flavortext. _________________ I hate people who try to write interesting things in their signature. |

Solution to current puzzle:
The 12 words have been formed from 12 others by reducing multiple letter occurrences to singles, then anagramming. The 1st 5 are derived from US presidents, the last 7 from US states. i.e.
REACT - Carter
HOVER - Hoover
REVOLTS - Roosevelt
PRICE - Pierce
ANGER - Reagan
BALM - Alabama
MUSTACHE - Massachusetts
AM NOT - Montana
SALK - Alaska
GONER - Oregon
RANKS - Arkansas
IMPS - Mississippi
Taking the letter indexed by the associated number gives
COLIN BANKERS
Finally, repeating the process on these words gives:
LINCOLN NEBRASKA
I'll hold fire on posting the next puzzle for a few hours
a) to annoy Suspence
b) to allow room for any comments on this one, since, compared to this banquet, my puzzle is just a snack! |

This type of puzzle is called a "letter bank", using only the letters from one word or phrase to create longer ones, thus the letter about a bank. _________________ I hate people who try to write interesting things in their signature. |

The answers fit in the grid below
| Code: |
FULL DECIMAL MORSE
111X 222X22X 333X3
STOP POINT N

So I'm going to guess that the answer to Crotchet!? is n since n is a quarter of "note" and is hook-shaped.
