My charact knows nothing about the zombies, but sees some weird stuff going on?

Action: ask the nearest PC "What the hell is going on around here?"

I call them zombies because they appear to act as such...but they're not really zombies, just mind-controlled automatons.

We shouldn't really be killing them as they're our crewmates...

Now that I've been in here for a couple of turns, what does the general awareness level of the crewmen appear to be?

I don't understand, but maybe that was meant for your fellow players.

MNO, are you referring to a personal computer or your fellow player?

That's what I thought you meant, the opposite of NPC. It just was situation where it could have gone either way.

Jedo: Do the crew officers who were in the control room when we entered appear more aware of their surroundings, or somewhat dazed/confused?

All of the crew in this room are not in their right minds and are not in control of their faculties. The ones nearest to Jack are stunned, after a fashion, because of Reggie's whistle.

I have a very important announcement!

The new co-mod for Roll to Dodge is....mathgrant!! Give him a warm round of applause.

We haven't worked out all of the logistics just yet for who will be typing when, but rest assured that mathgrant brings some excellent writing skills and a generous dash of dark humor to the table. If you thought you suffered under my watch, you ain't seen nothing yet. Wink

Anyway, we'll be working out our arrangement, and discussing the potential plot twists for voting in the upcoming poll. Be ready, and hold onto your butts!

Action: Press the zero gravity activation button on one of the terminals to stop the advance of the zomified crew and make them vulnerable to my martial arts skills

Turn 22 Resolution:

MNO: 1

I thought lizard beasts were bad enough, now I have to fight my own team. When is this day going to end? Jack eyes the stunned crew members nearest him just waiting for them to return to their deranged senses and attack him. While he stands there, he realizes he should probably find out what is going on. “What the hell...?” Suddenly, gravity gives way and he flies toward the ceiling along with the stunned crew. The shocking turn of events and the hard hit on the ceiling cause him to let go of his knife which bounces a few feet away from him.

Jack has a rail gun and 4 ammo clips.

Elethiomel: 6

Dee rips his hand from the crew member’s mouth, leaving the holokey behind. He takes a few steps into the room so he can shout to the computer more effectively. “Computer, reboot all terminals,” commands Dee as he smiles smugly.

“Invalid authorization. Terrorist infiltration of computer detected. Activate emergency lockdown procedures.” The lockdown goes into effect requiring a terminal override which can only be unddone by one person. An electrical surge is also sent into Dee’s body through the floor tile on which he stands. This stuns him before he is hurled at the ceiling along with everybody else in the room.

Dee has been electrocuted. He is dazed and confused and will consequently be at a -1 for all actions for the next 2 turns in addition to his -1 to manual dexterity.

novice: 2
3iff: 1

Zip continues trying to provide aid to Suzy while she attempts to move further from the action. As he tries to move into a more advantageous position (for touching her curves as well as for her protection), he trips her up and they both fall through the doorway into Command with Zip landing atop the sensuous Suzy. At that moment though, something happens with the gravity, and they fly toward the ceiling. This time it is Suzy who is on “top” with the wind being knocked out of Zip. The two are too stunned to untangle themselves, and neither notices a mind-controlled crew member floating only a few feet from them.

Zip has 5 shotgun rounds and two grenades remaining.

Suzy has a kitchen knife.

Monk: 6

Reggie has never been one to pass up a chance for capitalization. He rushes past the somewhat stunned zombies to the nearest terminal to activate zero gravity. That ought to make the crew members more manageable. Then we don’t have to worry about them while they are on the ceiling and we are down here. He slams down the button before remembering that he needed to adjust the settings first.

Everybody in the room and immediate hallway area are launched into the air. Reggie bounces a few times before he settles on the ceiling, cursing himself for not thinking first. He sees the captain nearby, surrounded by three crew members, and he hopes he can get there in time before she is injured. If she is, it will be all his fault for encouraging her to come here.

Event: Zero Gravity has been activated with super force. Everybody in the immediate area is on the ceiling.

Reggie has a bag of 49 rubber bands.

Sentran: 4

Suffering from a slightly bruised pride and a significantly bruised ass, Tank recovers himself to stand up. The desire not to be vulnerable in the face of fifty zombified crew members easily overcomes any pain. He stands and readies himself for whatever might happen next, when he is thrown into the air with a sudden, strong force. He bounces hard off the ceiling, and spins back toward the ground. He grapples for purchase on the wall, but finds none. He soars back to the ceiling where he quickly gathers his bearings before something else can catch him off guard.

I plan to include the status of your weapons each time from now on so you (and us mods) don't have to remember. Other than that, it was a horrible round.

Only three turns before there is a significant plot twist! Expect a poll up over the weekend. Everybody reading along is encouraged to vote so as to override the will of the players. Twisted Evil

I sincerely doubt I will survive to make it to phase 2...the return of gravity will likely kill me...(how many 1's are actually on that dice of yours, Jedo?)

Action: Propel myself to a section of wall/floor (the real floor) with a handhold of some description so that I won't just fall if/when gravity returns. Kicking out at the zombie will help to push us in opposite directions.

(Nice one Reggie!?)

Remember, I still have my knife.

* Uh-oh... The ship must be accelerating wildly, since turning off the gravity generator caused us to be propelled against the ceiling.
Zip's self-preservation instinct fights down the other basic instinct that's been guiding his most recent actions.
* We need to get the ship under control.

Action: Access my jailbroken qComp and ask my RootKit2003 utility to reboot the ship's systems.

Turn 23 Resolution:

MNO: 6

“When we get down from here, I’m going to kill whoever is responsible for this!” Jack looks around for his knife and sees it near one of the crew members. He quickly remembers what he read in Ender’s Game all those years ago, and he launches himself off the nearby wall. He angles his way around the room gaining more and more speed before coming around from the other side of the crew member. Finally, he launches toward the knife, but he has too much speed. He crashes into the crew member, and they both continue along the trajectory to hover near the wall where Jack started over the door. “Dammit.”

Jack has a rail gun and 4 ammo clips.

Elethiomel: 1-1=0

Since the electrical surge stunned Dee’s body, he is thankfully limp when he impacts the ceiling. Unfortunately, he still hits incredibly hard and passes out, all thoughts of his towel being swallowed by blackness. He lies spread-eagled on the ceiling, and a crew member nearby begins to work its way along the ceiling toward Dee.

Dee is unconscious from hitting the ceiling. He will have no action next turn in addition to his -1 to manual dexterity for subsequent turns.

Dee has his towel.

novice: 2
3iff: 6

“Umm, we haven’t yet perfected anti-gravity technology that works independent of the surrounding matter. The fact that we are on the ceiling means the ship has been sent into a magnificently fast spin. We need to get that back on track before we crash into something, specifically the planet,” exposits Zip to Suzy who may or may not be listening.

Suzy is oblivious to Zip’s ramblings as she thinks about how to secure herself to something before the inevitable return of normal gravity. She looks around for a structural support or anything, but she doesn’t find anything. Curse space architecture and interior design. They think smooth, gray metal panels are the best. Don’t they know it just makes “the future” feel sterile. It certainly isn’t very inviting for any time-traveling people. She decides to attempt to launch herself to where she can grab onto one of the terminals below. After bouncing off the wall, she overestimates the distance and hits her shoulder on the equipment before returning to the ceiling some distance away from Zip.

Zip is too distracted booting up his qComp to notice Suzy’s failing antics. He finally gets his systems running, and attempts a ship-wide reboot so that the engines also will reset. After putting in the code he gets a response, “Invalid authorization. Need Captain’s Override Code.” Zip looks around for her and deflates a little when he sees her surrounded by multiple crew members.

Zip has a Dragonslayer with 5 shotgun rounds and two grenades remaining.

Suzy has a kitchen knife and Dee’s back-up towel.

Suzy has a dislocated shoulder and will be at -1 for all appropriate actions until it is relocated.

Monk: 6

“Oy! Stay away from her, you mindless buggers!” shouts Reggie to the crew members advancing slowly across the ceiling toward the captain.

“They aren’t the enemy, Reggie, so don’t call them buggers,” responds the captain.

“I know that. That was just my bloody cultural expression. I’m coming over to fight with you.” Like the others, Reggie thinks he is an expert at Zero Gravity movement. The difference is he has had extensive training in it, so when he shoots past his mark and becomes entangled with a crew member yards away from the captain, he is a little dismayed. The crew member scratches at Reggie’s face and causes his cheek to start bleeding.

Reggie has a bag of 49 rubber bands.

Reggie’s face is bleeding and may become problematic if not bandaged.

Sentran: 1, 5

Seeing that he isn’t in any immediate danger, Tank begins to formulate how he might secure himself before normal gravity is restored. The only real object by which he can tie himself off is the table which he tripped over previously. It will have to do. I just have to get down there somehow. Tank undoes the sheet from around his head, braces himself against the ceiling, and launches toward the table. He overshoots his mark, but the sheet lances out and wraps around the table for him. Tank is then able to pull himself along, and he picks up the assault rifle on his way to the table. Once there, he ties himself in a standing position and looks up at the ceiling. The feeling of being pulled upward is strange, but Tank fights down the disorientation as he attempts to figure out how to help his bunkmates.

Tank has an assault rifle with 200 rounds.

In a rare moment of social awareness, Zip realizes from Reggie's demeanor that the woman surrounded by zombified crew members must be the captain, and is needed to end the zombie madness. Adding to this, Suzy is crying for help and Dee seems to be in dire straits. There's only one thing to do: Panic. Fortunately, Zip is a natural screwup so he doesn't think of that.

Action: Propel myself over to Dee's location, while blowing a kiss at suzy and shouting to the captain: "Captain, what's the override code? I need it to end the zombie transmission!"
