I thought they were taken from the same mini-Mandelbrot but they weren't. These two images are actually galaxies apart. Ooops.
(see the discussion on the end of the last page)

Hmmm ... I think in moving away from the edge of the Mandelbrot set, the corresponding Julia sets become less "dense". Outside the M-Set, the J-Sets are disconnected, a "fractal dust" in fact - no two points are connected. Inside inn M-set, the J-sets are entirely connected. But the spiral structures can exist for points inside or outside.

My usage of "farther" is relative. By saying "father from an edge" I mean closer to the nearest consistently trapped region. Maybe "downhill" would be just as ambiguous but strangely correct term.

I still like to think of the trapped regions as water. There are ponds and rivers all flowing into the ocean. Felicitous

Let see, the main pattern is 7 and the secondary pattern is 4. I know where I would go looking for this.

Step 1: collect fractals
Step 2: ???
Step 3: profit!

The disconnected Julia sets like the above are fascinating in how you can see it's made of a number of disconnected pieces, but magnifying any piece reveals that it too is created of disconnected pieces, and in fact there aren't even any two connected points in the whole set. Julia sets are either entirely connected, or entirely disconnected.

Step 2? Make Calanders and Mugs and Coffee table books.

I have to admit I used a few in my Windows class the other day just because I thought they were pretty and unique.

I've thought about it. But in the end Step 2 = effort

Effort? Well yes, in the end that is the way to success unless you were born into it.

Love the new one, reminds me of peacocks.

OK-- I am starting to hate some "features" of Firefox. Like the one that "fixes" images when the url doesn't exist. So yesterday it showed the same image that was near the top of the page... sigh If there is some easy way to turn off this annoying feature, please let me know.
And once it latches onto to the incorrect image it is hard to get it to view the correct image.

So on my browser today's image incorrectly shows up as a pretty green field. But hopefully everyone else will see some colourful rings.

There are indeed colorful rings.

To fix that, use Chrome. Wink

Ah, but does the previous one look similar or is it purplish fractal dust like?
