You jump through the gate. Though you are burned somewhat by your passing, you land relatively safely on the other side.

You sink a little into the floor. You hear a loud clack. The flames die away.

Looking down, you see that you're standing on a large pressure plate.

Jump up and down on the pressure plate.

You jump up and down repeatedly on the pressure plate. The gate roars back to life as you jump up, and dies away again as you land.

After a few jumps, you hear a strange click. After another jump, you come to the conclusion that the pressure plate is stuck.

is there an exit that is not through the gate?

There are more stairs leading downward.

Is is dark down there??? I procede, with caution, down the stairs.

You descend the stairs.

After some time, you come to a large, circular room. The room is dimly lit. In the middle there appears to be a stone minotaur.

Inspect the statue

The stone minotaur growls at you threateningly.

"Well, Hello" I respond, attempting to sound chipper rather than scared to death.

The stone minotaur sighs and shrugs. "I was condemned to guard this place as a statue after getting into a fight with one of the Zodiac. Probably long dead by now. You're the second person I've seen today, actually."

Really? Who eles has been through?

[raekuul]

The stone minotaur rumbles thoughtfully. "It was the current Castor, Chester Amberson. He retreated after hearing Sagittarius' request."

Yes, well I am glad that got all sorted out. Seems odd that Chester would be down here after all this time.

The minotaur shrugs. "He didn't come back down. Did you see him earlier?"

I must have missed him. So may I pass. I am supposed to get something that was left for me in the deepest vault.

The minotaur shakes his head. "Sorry, but I can't just let you pass. You have thus far proven that you are neither foolish nor cowardly. You must now prove your strength."

[itisally]

How shall I proove this?

The minotaur shakes his head. "That would not be you moving me, that would be me moving me."

The minotaur laughs. "You don't have the authority to order me around, chump."

Cast Thunderstrike, aiming at the floor next to him. My hope is to shake him off balance to move him without causeing any damage.

The thunderstrike strikes true. The stone minotaur does not move.

Your spear thinks for a moment.

"It's a stone minotaur, so it'll probably be too heavy to move on your own. By the same token, it won't be affected by cold or electricity. We've already tried singing to it - that song was terrible, by the way, don't sing it again - and I don't know enough about minotaur mythology to suggest any sad epics."

Hmmm, looking at my spell list.... Summon Fey, I don't want it to hurt him, just flit around and be annoying like a bee. If that won't work I m\will try hitting him in the big toe with a Mana arrow.
