Roll to Dodge: Sci-fi Edition! 3iff's streak continues

I have removed Reggie from the game for the time being, so while you may certainly post actions involving going to the infirmary to check on him, it would be a waste of your time as it would not change the outcome. This way, Reggie can return if Monk should decide to take it back up.

Time moved forward by one minute this time, though it will not always progress in such a short increment. Suzy's time also will not always progress at the same pace as the main group's.

If anybody reading would like to join, or if jadesmar would like to take back up his character, please just let me know.

When gravity had reasserted itself, Jack had fallen atop a bank of terminals, bounced, and tumbled to the floor. His back feels pretty painful, but Jack just took a few minutes to recover. This ain’t as bad as the Crotang Incident twelve years ago. Damn I miss Felicity. She was a crack soldier. He stands up and surveys the surroundings, and he sees Suzy is still missing. I hope that kid is alright. None of these people ’cept Tank are prepared for this sort of thing. He also notices Reggie and the captain are gone. Once I get to that planet, I’m keeping my feet on the ground.

Jack has a knife, a rail gun and 4 ammo clips.


Elethiomel: 3

After making sure everything is getting back to normal, Dee whips out his towel to try talking with Suzy. He says a silent prayer hoping that Suzy’s towel still works wherever she is. “Hey, Suzy, where did you pop off to? Don’t tell me you’re at it in the laundry room again.” While waiting for a response, Dee checks his gear and equipment. It’s only a matter of time before we continue fighting those Princua. Better make sure I have what I need.

Dee has his towel.

Using his former Director abilities, Zip sets about organizing the Command center. “Put the wounded over there until we can get some help from the infirmary. You two, carry that guy with the shattered knee directly there. I’m not sure he has time to wait around in here.” I can’t believe I shot that guy like that. Well, better him than Suzy or Tank. “The rest of you get back to your terminals and let’s get this place back online. We have men out there who are still fighting those lizards. They are going to need our help.” Zip looks around for Suzy as the bodies are being shifted, but there’s no sign of her.

A young crew member comes up to Zip and says, “I don’t know if you’re really in charge, but I need to tell somebody who might find it important. We’re missing Geoffreys, Zanbrook, and Thomas.”

“Thanks. I’ll be sure to pass this information along to the right people,” replies Zip. They must have been taken with Suzy. Well, maybe they can protect her until I can get there.

Zip has a Dragonslayer with 5 shotgun rounds and two grenades remaining.


Sentran: 2

This sheet was pretty good find. I could be like Jack over there having to take a breather while I recover my fat self. I’ve been out of action for too long. Still, there’s work to be done, especially finding that girl. She looked pretty frail. I hope she can hang on wherever she it until we find her. Tank sees everybody else is beginning to move about, so he decides to untie himself from the table. Unfortunately, the sheet is not quite ready to let go of the table, so Tank remains in position which is just as well considering his hurt toe.

Tank has an assault rifle with 200 rounds and a sheet.

Suzy fumbles around in the dark for her qComp. She finds it, then intelligently decides to make sure the screen is facing away from her before turning it on. Before turning it on, she thinks she might have it wrong. “Hey, Suzy...pop off...me...in the laundry room again.” The voice from the towel startles Suzy, and she accidentally turns on the qComp before she could double-check the screen’s orientation. Light floods the room and her eyes, blinding Suzy before her eyes can adjust to the new stimulus. As she blinks furiously, she hears whoever else is in the room with her snicker at the comment from the towel. “Go blow yourself,” Suzy mutters to the snickerer.

Howls of laughter erupt.

Suzy is dazzled by the light. She will be at a -1 to all actions next turn since she cannot see well.

Suzy has a kitchen knife and Dee’s back-up towel.

Feeling a sudden strange attachment to Reggie (or maybe to that captain who reminds him so much of Felicity), Jack charges down the corridor after them. He catches up with them in the infirmary, and the captain rounds on him. “Just what the hell do you think you are doing here?” she asks as her eyes flash at him.

“I just wanted to make sure everything is alright,” replies Jack a little more gruffly than he intended.

“There’s nothing you can do for him in here, you big idiot. If you want to do something for him, go send those Princua back to whatever corner of the universe they came from."

Throwing one last look at Reggie, Jack nods to the captain and departs back to Command where he can coordinate with the others.

Jack has a knife, a rail gun and 4 ammo clips.

After going around the room a few times, Dee begins to assess his assets. Three grenades, two cans of cat food, four ammo clips, two wrenches...

“Dee, what’s happening? I think I’ve been transported...and I think I’m with some crewmembers,” comes Suzy’s voice through the towel.

“Suzy, we’re regrouping here. Are you getting along with those crewmembers?” replies Dee. He receives only laughter in response.

Dee has his towel.

Zip gazes around the room looking for somebody in charge, not to pass that information along like he said he would, but in order to ingratiate himself to someone who can make him feel important. Sadly, the best he can see is a Sergeant. They’ll have to do. He runs over to the Sergeant to tap him on the shoulder, when the Sergeant moves with blinding speed and throws Zip on the ground.

“You’ll never take me, Princua spy!” yells the Sergeant.

Zip recovers just enough air to gasp, “I’m not...a spy.”

“Well dammit, son. Don’t sneak up on a fellow like that.”

Zip is slightly stunned. He will be at a -1 for all actions next turn.

Zip has a Dragonslayer with 5 shotgun rounds and two grenades remaining.


Sentran: 2

Tank decides to take a different approach with the sheet. “I understand you and I have a connection of some sort now, so I’ll ask you nicely. Will you please let me off this table now?” The sheet seems to shudder with fear, and tightens its grip on the table a little. A crew member walks by just then and asks Tank for some help moving a table back into place. Tank just waves at the guy, and the crew member gives him a look of disgust.

Tank lets out his own sigh of exasperation.

Tank has an assault rifle with 200 rounds and a sheet.

With her eyes slightly blinded, Suzy gropes around for the towel so she can respond. After what seems an agonizing amount time, her hand lands on the towel, and she say into it very carefully, “Dee, what’s happening? I think I’ve been transported...and I think I’m with some crewmembers.” As she waits for a reply, she decides to assert herself, “Can one of you guys turn the lights on?”

“Suzy, we’re regrouping here. Are you getting...with those crewmembers?” Dee replies.

The crew members raucously laugh once more. “Only if you ‘get with me’ will I turn on the lights,” responds one of the crew members. Another one quietly turns on the lights, and Suzy finds herself dazzled again.

Suzy has a kitchen knife and Dee’s back-up towel.

Action: Leap up as the sheet finally decides to release its hold on me, then slide the table I was sitting on into a defense position near the door.

Jack has an itch...an itch for ACTION! He unslings his gun, and runs pell-mell once more to the breach. Ignoring the fleeting reference that doesn’t quite take purchase in his mind, Jack passes the soldiers holding the entrance and shoots the first Princua he sees. Sadly, this Princua is at the front of a group of about six others who immediately return fire. Jack ducks back around the corner to regroup with the soldiers. Only then does he realize that they landed a shot on his left arm. It’s not bleeding much, but it needs to be bound.

Jack has a gun wound on his left arm. It needs to be bound in three turns or he will suffer further effects from loss of blood.

Jack has a knife, a rail gun and 4 ammo clips.


Elethiomel: 3

Dee sets to work fashioning a more suitable weapon out of his collected miscellany. Thinking that he would much rather have the cat food and grenades on hand, he decides to attach the wrenches to the towel. He’s not very good at tying knots however, resulting in one wrench falling back to the floor, and the other looking as if it might do the same.

“You keep...ing up. I’m... … ...doing... … …” comes through the uncooperative towel. Well, that was mostly nonsensical. Why did Suzy pause so much between words?

“Suzy, are you doing something to cause you to be out of breath?”

Dee has his towel, three grenades, two cans of cat food, four ammo clips, and two wrenches.

“Well, what did you come running over here for, son?” asks the Sergeant. “It must have been god-awful important judging by the way you raised hell on your way over.” Zip, unable to speak because the wind refused to refill his lungs, just lies there gaping like a fish out of water. “Joe, you better take this one and place him along the wall too. I must have knocked something loose when I threw him down. Dumbass.”

Joe and another crew member take Zip over to the line of bodies waiting to receive medical attention. They set him down, and continue about their business. Zip remains motionless wondering if something really did come loose inside his head.

Sentran: 5

I can’t believe I have some sort of sentient sheet for a companion. I know we have some pretty amazing technological advances these days, but this sure takes the cake. Well, I’ll have to find some way to make it let go of me and the table. “I really should hurry and start barricading this place,” Tank says with exaggerated volume, “I wouldn’t want those Princua to get down here without any resistance. They’re liable to kill us all and shred any sheets they find in the process.” Immediately, the sheet releases Tank and the table and proceeds to help push the table toward the door. Upon completing that, it resumes its position as a turban atop Tank’s head. That’s more like it.

Tank has an assault rifle with 200 rounds and a sheet.

While she recovers from the second blinding light in as many minutes, Suzy decides to try pulling a prank on Dee through the towel. “You keep...ing up. I’m... … ...doing... … …” She then turns her attention to the crew members who were apparently transported with her. There are three of them, and they look to be solid military personnel. At least I didn’t get the wimpy pencil-pushers. “Alright, guys, we’re done with the adolescent act. I need you guys to help me figure out where we are if we aren’t at Command, then we’ll figure out some way to hook up with the others.”

“Suzy, are you doing something to cause you to be out of breath?” says Dee through the towel. The crew members laugh again, and Suzy realizes she’s going to have to play this differently. She whips out her knife to show she’s not some push-over, but the soldiers simultaneously draw their guns on her.

Ok, that wasn’t the way to handle things.

- Yeah, there's a wrench in the works, Suzy. I'm fixing it!

Action: Put away the wrenches; they'll serve as backup ammo instead. Go and see what Jack is shooting at, and offer my services to the captain.

"I guess it's time to go help someone with these Princua bastards."
Action: head towards the sound of gunfire, weapon at the ready.

“AHHH, Goddamn motherf...” he cuts off as a Princua grenade blast is narrowly blocked by Jack’s cover. “Shit, maybe this wasn’t the best idea. You there!” he calls to the nearest soldier. “Maybe give me something to bind this so I can keep firing at these sombitches?” The soldier quickly digs a rag out of his bag and tosses it to Jack. Jack snatches it out of the air, then proceeds to tie it off with one hand. It takes him longer than he would like, but he eventually uses his teeth to get it pulled tight. Now it’s time to return the favor.

Jack has a knife, a rail gun and 4 ammo clips.


Elethiomel: 2

Dee, recognizing that crafting a weapon will have to wait until later, gathers up his things. I just saw Jack run out of here like his pants were on fire, so I better go find him. Dee stops a passing crew member to ask if he knows where Jack went.

“Dee...are breaking up...Is you...damaged?” The crew member and Dee just look at the towel then back at each other. Dee shakes his head as a way to ward off any questions the crew member might have been about to pose.

“Well, sir, Jack ran out of here yelling, ‘Princua bastards!’” replies the crew member.

“Thanks,” says Dee, “that sounds like Jack.” I guess he’s gone back to the breach. I better go get his back. Dee heads in that direction, but he remembers that he needs to respond to Suzy. “I don’t understand. What happened? I thought you were safe with some crew members. Things should be good with you.” Dee then continues after Jack, but realizes he forgot which way to the breach.

Dee has his towel, three grenades, two cans of cat food, four ammo clips, and two wrenches.

Zip nudges the guy next to him who has a pretty big gash in his head from falling on a console after gravity was reestablished. “Hey, have you seen Joffrey, Brooke, and Timmy?”

The crew members eyes shoot open. “What’s that, Lassie? Timmy fell down the well?!”

“I’m not Lassie. What are you talking about?”

“Got to save Timmy. Got to save Timmy. Got to save...” The crew member drifts back out of consciousness.

Zip turns to the guy on his other side to ask the same question, and he finds a woman right in his face. “I know what happened to Joffrey, Brooke, and Timmy. I’ll tell you if you do something for me.”

Zip stammers a bit, “I-I...what do you...a-anything...”

She plants a big wet kiss on Zip’s lips, then blurts out, “They were swallowed by that bright light!” Then she rolls away from him.

Sentran: 3

With his new-found freedom from the table, Tank thinks about what he should do next. He looks around Command, sees that the crew is handling things just fine, so he decides he should probably find out what Jack ran off to do. Just then, Tank hears the sound of distant gunfire. Yep, that’s Jack alright. I better get down there. He runs down a few corridors to the sound. He readies his rifle, then peaks around the corner. Looking surprised, Tank sees a cleaning robot spinning its gears as it leans crookedly against the wall. The sound is awfully like gunfire. He walks to the robot and says, “Robot, power down.” It obeys the command, but the sound of gunfire doesn’t stop though it does sound different this time.

“...BASTARDS!” trails down the corridor. He’s close.

Tank has an assault rifle with 200 rounds and a sheet.

Suzy carefully bends down to stow the knife in her boot. She does it very slowly so as not to be threatening. When she’s near the towel, she whispers another message into it. “Dee, our messages are breaking up for some reason. Is your towel damaged?” She then stands up with her hands raised to show they are empty. “Ok guys, you win. Let’s fight the Princua, not each other. So, where are we?”

“How the hell should we know where we are?” says the one behind her.

“Actually, we don’t know why we aren’t in Command, much less why we’re in this storage room with you,” answers the one directly in front of her.

“Until we figure that out, we’re going to tie you up so you don’t go about threatening us any more. For all we know, you brought us here. Maybe you’re a subversive,” states the final crew member.

“But I’m just as confused as...” she tries to reply, but the one behind her grabs her hands and moves her over to one of the shelves. One of the others picks up the towel, and uses it to tie Suzy’s hands to the shelf.

“We’ll be back once we sort things out.” Then they leave.

“I don’t understand. What happened? I thought...things...good with you.” Suzy sighs.

Suzy has a kitchen knife and Dee’s back-up towel.
