Sorry for the double post but I really need some clarification on Sentran's claim. Sentran, you claimed Kinfolk, so as I understand that you're a relative of a werewolf, who isn't himself a werewolf. If you're a non-Garou, and town aligned, where are you getting the idea that other non-Garou are scum aligned? I do understand the desire for a longer day, but we're running low on time. When I voted for you I didn't expect so much support, and I do have to re-examine my scum reads.
Unvote: Sentran
Oh look Jedo no stance, is this apathy? |

( Like LiML said, she is ill and the sickness has been circulating in the household) I voted for Durryn because he feels off this game, As far as the vote hopping between Zag and Sentran I find both of their actions suspicious. I am reading over the long posts again to see if anything more sticks out.
I was trying to keep track of vote switches but that got all mangled with how many there were.
I have no been staring at this post for 20 minutes so I am just going to post this as incomplete and come back later after a little bit more sleep to post a better analysis of what I see going on. _________________ 10289 is the end! |

Now to your vote of Sentran. You say the reason for your vote is the same as the others I'm lambasting, but yours was prior to this incident. You must mean then that you voted Sentran for moving his vote around before this. You didn't like him going from Zag to jadesmar to Durryn? But you were okay with Zag going from Sentran to Mom to Jedo to Mom? Hardly good reasoning then. |
When did I ever say that? I said I voted for Sentran because I'm still suspicious of his scum-sniffing method. And are you trying to convince me that I should vote for Zag, or just that I shouldn't vote for Sentran. |
It's in the exact same post from which I just quoted and from which you just quoted me.

If you have multiple reasons, perhaps you ought to clarify which one is correct. Additionally, I was not trying to get you to vote Zag, but rather pointing out the inconsistency. If a person votes A for X and B has done X more, then the question becomes one of why A over B.

How exactly? Everyone is voting, so everyone has a stance, not just apathy. Also that sentence gives me a headache. Not having a stance is a stance? |
First, apathy is choosing not to make a choice. That would be a stance. You are the one who said you didn't have a stance, and I'm saying that is a false statement. Second, people had a bunch of "Day 1" stances which they all qualify as nothing serious or certain. The majority bemoan Day 1 and believe Day 2 will be better, but how can we look back on Day 1 information with any greater degree of certainty if everybody can defend themselves with "Well, that was just a Day 1 view; it wasn't serious"? Those votes then are hardly stances because they are nothing which will be supported in the face of scrutiny. _________________ Paragon Tally: 19 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |

Zag, I don't give a damn about your reasons right now. I was only scrutinizing Perpentach's reason for voting Sentran. It seems there may be some confusion on that point though. (see above)
Still, what I notice is a strange lack of equity in your characterization of Sentran's voting. First of all, why does his first vote receive such scrutiny and yours does not? Sentran's first vote was about 13 posts into the day, well within RVS; same as yours. You'll notice that when I analyzed your vote histories that I left off those for both of you.
Second, the question which nobody can seem to make sense of, why the hell would a scum Sentran jump to Mom with such blunt wording? He's a veteran, and as such he would know that at this point in Day 1 the town is just looking for something to jump on as scummy. You are telling me he was dumb enough to think nobody would point the finger at him for that? From the other side of the coin, you want me to believe nobody else was tired of Day 1 and wanting it to end? I sure as hell am! Instead, he must be scum who is either bussing his buddy or trying to end the day quickly. Umm, why would he need the Day to end quickly when there was no real heat on him? And back to the original question of his motivation, why would he then do something which will inevitably draw more attention to him?
Finally, to show that anybody can do it...
1. Zag unvotes Jedo since the discussion is serious.
("I wouldn't want anybody to take that vote seriously and thus draw attention to myself.")
2. Zag votes Sentran for role-sniffing.
("This is an easy thing to get rolling on Day 1. I'm sure others will bite, and Sentran is always partly scummy.")
3. Zag votes Mom for a "gut reaction."
("I can vote for my buddy and distance before anything really heats up. That way I don't draw much attention to us.")
4. Zag votes Jedo for "outing the cop."
("Now I have a good excuse to stop voting my buddy. Plus, now I can get rid of Jedo since I've already been casting suspicion on him.")
5. Zag votes Mom because it's the logical option.
("I can't get the reasoning to stick with Jedo, so I have to go back to Mom so I don't appear suspicious.")
6. Zag votes Sentran because he was my first read.
("Since jadesmar doesn't have a read on my buddy, I can safely go back to Sentran. I kind of retracted my initial reason for voting him, but maybe nobody will notice. I'll just wait for him to do something else to make this more legitimate.")

By the way, I almost never use that phrase. I used it that time specifically because you had voted for her for the same reason, which I thought, at the time, was really because you had realized that jadesmar was a cop. I figured that you had given the non-reason because you didn't want to out him, so I was specifically echoing it, to let you (and possibly jadesmar) know that I had caught on, too.
However, since you claim you didn't think jadesmar was a cop, that you were giving the ridiculous "gut reaction" reason because ...? |

Maybe I am being an idiot, but I don't think so. It wouldn't be the first (nor probably the last) time, but I've been telling what I think and the reasons for thinking that way. This is what townies do (with the exception of outing a cop). You and Jedo have both done stuff and specifically said that you won't explain your reasons, which I find suspicious.
I've chosen to highlight the tells that I think are -- you know -- telling.
I don't believe I've ignored any questions posed to me, but if you point them out, I'll be glad either to answer them or to point out where I have answered them already.
I don't care what you (and, to a lesser extent, Jedo) think of me because I think you are scum. Once, however, a third person had accused me of appearing to vote hop (third, including myself), I thought I should explain it for the rest of the players, before they start believing what you have said about me. |

I said I would not explain my reasoning at that time, but I have explained since. My reasons for explaining (preempting that question) are that I feel I will attend the gallows today, and the logic behind my actions should be available to town should that happen. It only hurts the town to carry my secrets to my grave.
As for a question asked that you have not answered, I seem to recall one, but I just finished writing a long paper for school and my brain hurts. I'll try to find it tomorrow. _________________ Sentran

I would like to know exactly where I "specifically said that I won't explain my reasons." (This is the first bit of info I want from Zag.) I just went through my ISO, and I've been extremely forthcoming with my opinions and reasons. I also can find no place where I specifically say that.
I would like to know, succinctly, why I'm scum. (This is the second bit of info I want from Zag.) You have asserted this multiple times with different associations. These are that I am likely scum if Sentran is scum (posts 116, 128 and 213); that I don't want to bus a scum buddy, though I'm not sure whether you meant jadesmar or Sentran (post 143); that I'm scum for outing the cop (posts 167 and 190) which I soundly refuted in post 193 and you rescinded (post 177)--or did you? (posts 181 and 186); that I'm scum for...well, it's just unclear here, but I think it's for "outing the cop again" (post 194); and that I'm scum behind Sentran, which can really only mean that we are so together (posts 199, 209 and 247). I would advise people to look over these posts. I figured you would prefer this to a massive wall.
Since Sentran and I are connected as scum so often in your posts, why do you think it is so likely that we, very experienced mafia players who are often able to survive multiple game Days, would both make ourselves so obviously scum on the first Day (along with the "third possible scum" of Mom who has been dragged into the spotlight by me)? (This is the third bit of info I want from Zag.)
Also, as I was doing this research, I found this quote to be interesting:
| Zag wrote: |
| But if you announce the cop, like, say, Jedo did, then he only gets one or two investigations before he gets whacked or perpetually role-blocked. |
I checked Johnny Depp Mafia to see if this was a reference to that game in which Zag was outed, and there was no role blocker in that game on either side. My question then is "Why assume there is a role-blocker in this game, much less a scum-aligned RB as that is the only person who would 'perpetually block a cop'?" (This is the fourth bit of info I want from Zag.) This particularly more important to me because you are the one who specifically asked jadesmar to confirm whether he is a cop...on Day 1. Is a one-to-one trade with a cop so worth that information on Day 1? Or if jadesmar is not a cop, now the scum have one less person they have to consider for the role of cop. That hardly seems like a wise action.
Personally, that last bit sealed the deal for me. unvote, vote: Zag _________________ Paragon Tally: 19 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |

I am still here. Very slowly recovering from the flu.
It seems to me that Sentran is right about being close to the gallows. Mainly due to deadline reasons. I just feel I should point out a inconsistency here. Several people claimed Jades was being to outspoken, thus he is unlikely scum but you then now seem to be saying that the exact opposite is true of Sentran. I don't see scum in Sentran, he is to vocal. But I do think I should watch closely Jedo.

If Sentran is scum, I am not suspicious of him for anything he has done so far. He is currently neutral in my opinion.
I want to highlight (because it just got slipped into the last paragraph of my former post) that Zag specifically prompted jadesmar to confirm whether he is a cop. I'm not sure how anybody here can think that is different than Sentran's question early on. I personally find Zag's to be much more egregious since, though we had the discussion about the possibility of jadesmar's role, the scum still wouldn't know whether it was true. For all of his ripping on me for "outing the cop," he's the one who wanted it confirmed.

I noticed I had overlooked this recent question.
It was partly a reference to last game in which spyrl grilled me for giving that reason and partly that I noticed jadesmar was so confident and Mom's posts felt stilted. Ultimately, it was a "gut reaction" in the vein of the nuance I gave that term last game.
Also, that list about your votes was just to show the ridiculousness of your approach to Sentran. I don't necessarily hold to those assessments of your vote history; I just wanted to show that anybody can skew the reasons people give for voting the way they do. _________________ Paragon Tally: 19 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |

All quotes are Jedo.
| Quote: |
| I would like to know exactly where I "specifically said that I won't explain my reasons." |
I was referring to the "gut reaction" reason for voting LIML, with I always think is a cop out. You'll recall that I only said it specifically to echo you, hoping to signal you and jadesmar that I, also, had caught on that he was a cop. I do think you responded to this in post 255. I don't think much of your answer -- it sounds like justification after the fact -- but I don't expect any more than this.
| Quote: |
| I would like to know, succinctly, why I'm scum. |
Because the mod assigned you that role?
You've quoted a bunch of my reasons, though you've misinterpreted some. (I've never thought that jadesmar was, for instance. I did speculate that if I'm wrong about jadesmar, what it means about you -- I'm saying this from memory but I'm pretty sure that I said you couldn't both be scum, so if I'm wrong about j, that is, if he is scum, then I'm pretty sure you aren't. However, it's getting foggy for me, so if the situation arises I will go reread my comment and its justifications.)
The journey of my opinion about Jedo
When you agreed with me about Sentran's role-sniffing but didn't vote on it, that was my first inclination that you were scum. When I thought you had picked up on jadesmar being a cop and voted along with that read, then I thought you weren't. When you outed him, I didn't really think you were scum, I just voted you because I was ticked off (and unvoted as soon as I cooled off a bit). When you denied thinking jadesmar a cop, and that you had just jumped on the LIML bandwagon for no actual stated reason, you went way up in the scum department. When you gave a lame answer (post 255) explaining this, you went up further. When you claimed you were never suspicious of Sentran (post 254) you went up further.
Some of these reasons evaporate if I turn out to be wrong about Sentran (i.e. if he flips town), but most do not. In fact, even that last one doesn't evaporate. You could easily be counting on the looming deadline, happy that a townie is going down without you even having to be on the bandwagon. But mostly -- well, I'm not sure. It's such a core assumption of mine that I will have to go back and reread the whole thread if it turns out wrong, but right now I don't think it will.
| Quote: |

Meh. Things happen. Why did you find yourself leading the charge against MNO last game, when I know that your policy is never to bus a buddy on day 1? And the two reads are somewhat intertwined, but not even 50%. Your whole interaction with jadesmar/LIML is completely independent of Sentran.
| Quote: |
| My question then is "Why assume there is a role-blocker in this game, much less a scum-aligned RB as that is the only person who would 'perpetually block a cop'?" |
Because most games with cops also have a scum role-blocker. I never got to find out in the Johnny Depp game, because I was killed right away after Chaz was as stupid as you were in this one.

Oh, please. You're going to try to pin this on me? That is the height of arrogance.
In any case, I've tried to look at this from their point of view -- If I were scum (and LIML was, too), I still wouldn't be sure; he might be just saying that, hoping to live another night. (Of course, if LIML is town, then I would know he isn't a cop, since he was wrong all along.) |

Again? Really? You are arguing this non-point into the ground. Specifically, Chaz outed the cop (you) in the Depp game. In this game, you feel that Jedo outed the cop, but jades has admitted that he is NOT the cop! In other words, it's a totally different situation, so why do you continue to beat this dead horse? Because misdirection is a classic scum tactic. Combine that with the soft read and no accompanying vote, and you've made two blunders on day 1. Very happy with my vote now.
Lurking remains a huge issue in this game. Look at these facts...
Perpentach is still not voting.
Durryn, itisally and Raearia have only posted once each in the past week.
MNOWAX has not posted in the past week.
jadesmar has not posted for over 2 weeks!
That means that the game is being primarily carried by 3 people. This is an unacceptable way to play, and does incredible damage to the town!
Oh, I found that question I don't feel that Zag answered, but it's a moot point now. I asked how much information Zag felt I should reveal on day 1. After asking the question twice with no response, I posted it anyway. Even claiming my role has not changed any votes against me, so goodbye cruel world. I expect to see about another 2 content-free posts before deadline, and then I swing. _________________ Sentran

Nope, you're the only person who has posted more than one page. So that's one less player that can be considered a lurker, but my point still stands. Half of the players lurking is a guaranteed loss for town. _________________ Sentran

Now, I am normally all for a lurker vote, but let’s be honest I am on the list this time so I thought I should drum up some stats on the subject.
I looked at 4 old games. And how much posting the mafia did. Now if I was really good (read as had the time) I would have narrowed it down to day one or two postings but instead I found the average number of posts they made per day. I acknowledge that there are flaws to this as a narrowing field would force more posting so that scum that last longer would have higher post counts.
Numbers are approximate
East word game
MNO on day 1 (forgot game) 14 posts/day
Leo day 3, 5/d
Sentran day 4, 17/d
Heroes and Villains
MNO day 3, 14/d
Sentran day 6, 12/d
True Blood
Bgge day 1, 31/d
MNO day 3, 9/d
Zag day 6, 16/d
Servivor Reunion
3iff night 3, 2/d
Sentran day4, 15/d
MacKay day 7 31/d
THIS GAME
1: Sentran 34
2: Perpentach 15
3: jadesmar 46
4: MNOWAX 21
5: Raearia 14
6: Lifeinmomland 10
7: Durryn 15
8: Zag 35
9: Jedo the Jedi 29
10: Itisally 17
I am not sure I see an actual correlation here, but I will think on it.
As for lack of content and posting on my account. I have nothing to add. My vote is on Sentran, but the more you guys (Sentran, Jedo, Zag) talk the less convinced I am. But even then it is a matter of if I think scum is driving it (in those three) or if they are townies involved that are mistaken. I am inclined to think townies. Why you might ask? Because it isn’t an easy lynch and scum could fade back and let the deadline take effect. Jedo and Zag have not done that. I also don’t think either wouls go for a buss on day one.

I need to back and read more of what I have missed before I make my new vote, please bear with me as I need to read sporadically so as to not puke on my keyboard. _________________ If there's anything around here more important than my ego, I want it caught and shot now! - Zaphod Beeblebrox |

Apology accepted, but unecessary. I always expect my BS to be caught and called, it helps keep me honest.

I had thought my posting about role was after the page 7 vote count. You did change after my claim, I acknowledge my mistake.
Yes, the plague has hit Oregon. Affected include Raearia, LIML, Durryn, itisally... I appear to be either immune, or affected later. I don't feel great today, so it may have got me after all. _________________ Sentran

This was a pretty clever remark to a poorly worded question. I just want to acknowledge that fact before I get to the serious part of my post.

What a load of bull. The actual counter to a cop has been and always will be an investigation-immune GF. Before you came along and made vanilla townies a thing of the past, the scum RB was mostly non-existent. However, to argue on your turf, I present four recent games with a cop and no scum RB: Survivor Mafia (with 2 cops), RoboMafia, V Mafia, and Heroes Mafia. If the town continues to let you get away with this, then I might as well quit. (It seems they will since none of them even mentioned what I said about you.)

Umm, yes. You did want confirmation. I'm not sure why you think you shouldn't be 'pinned' with this. This response reminds me...

I still think Mom is likely scum. After that though, it is hard to say. Best to wait until at least one mafia is confirmed dead and go from there. _________________ Paragon Tally: 19 mafia, 3 SKs (1 twice), 1 cultist, numerous chat scum...and counting. |

Okay, after gong all the way back to the beginning and rereading everything (I am not sure it all penetrated the clouds in my head) I am once again scared to admit that Jedo has convinced me to vote for someone.
Vote: Zag
If Zag is town? I believe, I will be voting for Jedo day 2.
If Zag is Scum? Probably looking very hard at LIML.
I am going back to bed. _________________ If there's anything around here more important than my ego, I want it caught and shot now! - Zaphod Beeblebrox |

SO funny! Shun Shun and I were joking that we should take off until the flu had passed to avoid getting it. Looking up though, sent the first of the kids back to school this morning.

What I find interesting about this is in the first sentence you note that it is his perspective and the way that he sets up games, so it makes sense that he would make the assumption.
You have examples where it is not the case, but they are not Zag run games. Assumptions on game set up are based on personal perspective of how a game should be set up.

Ok hon, I get that you are sick. But my question here is why trust Jedo? and is it possible that Jedo is just wrong? It happens to the best of us on occasion. I can't put my finger on it, but I am hesitant to trust.
@ Sentran, in general a claim won't change my mind by itself. I have come to understand that I play this game with many people who are great liars . Some people won't change just because they think changing based on a day one claim is hurtful to the town. I am not sure where I fall on that philosophy (and don't really want to debate it again.)
I think the claim of Kinfolk would be a risky safe claim and that Sentran would have picked something...well.... safer. It requires that he have some kind of ability that someone would ask him to prove later, but it is unlikely to be a very strong ability making him a poor target for a night kill. That’s what I think about the claim.
On Sentran's play after the claim: I have known scum that is trying to hide by deflecting, in this case towards lurkers, but he didn't vote or keep pushing it when I gave the opportunity. Scum sometimes gets very loud in false outrage, only one post seemed like that to me and it was about Zag. It would be an odd game if they didn't but heads. Sometimes scum tries to fade into the background by avoiding questioned or giving short meaningless answers. I don't think he has done this. Much of this evaluation is on subtleties and slight variances, but at this point I don't think he is scummy and I think I have more to gain from him alive than from his death.
I feel the similarly about Zag and Jedo at this point.

Damn wife. How dare you attack my storm filled head with your logic!!! Here I was stumbling along in a drug induced haze and you have to go and pierce it with more brain addling questions.
Of course I am concerned with trusting Jedo, for crying out loud. I have said for almost 20 years "Never trust a Jedi".
I can't pinpoint where my position on Zag changed and I wish that I could.
Gotta lay down........ Show me my votes error and I will change it, but the only people on my list are Zag, Jedo, and LIML. Everyone else has cleared themselves thus far, for me. _________________ If there's anything around here more important than my ego, I want it caught and shot now! - Zaphod Beeblebrox |

I am tempted to think that Zag, Jedo and Sentran are all townies just being loud. Mostly because I agree that this gives the scum a chance to sit back and let the day ride.
For now i am going to Unvote

Due to the pickup in conversation, I'd be tempted to ask for a deadline extension. However, since the most likely scum candidate (in my opinion) is in the forefront of the vote count, I won't. _________________ Sentran

After looking at the information again I'm going back to my old vote.
Vote: Sentran
Sentran, I realize that I'm not very decisive on this point, but I have more confidence with this vote than any other. With deadline approaching I feel like this is my best option.
Nearly eight pages. I think we have enough for Day 2. I won't be posting until then. |

I think Perpentach and possibly Durryn are the scum on that wagon. So, I'm not sure that counts as "a lot". |
