My new page timing was off by one... but today we have something different! After 90 Julia fractals I will return to the Mandelbrot set. For a little while.

After that, I could move into the Newton iteration method. I don't remember exactly how it is different but it makes pretty loops.

That's pretty cool. How long do you look at your final product before deciding what the caption will be? Of course I see what the caption suggests, but I recognize some of them are creative stretches and not what I would have seen at first.

Or maybe I won't move to Wellington yet. Now I have an interview on Tuesday. Funny how things change.


Usually when I post. I change the number, preview my post and then add the caption and invisible text these days.
Sometimes I come up with something while making the image or pick colours to highlight an idea. Remembering what it was by the time the image comes up is another story.

Their image was also made with Fractal Domains (I believe). I don't really see the wiggling optical illusion myself. That site has quite a few excellent illusions on it.

Most days I try to work with just a few colours. Many of the random colour schemes that I pass up are more like the psychedelic patterns found here. But such colour sets all start to look the same after a little while.

I believe that is 180 new images since the restart. Half from the Julia set and half Mandelbrot.
Coming up with titles feels like a daily inkblot test.

A plot of the last 90 Mandelbrot fractals. I took the liberty of using the absolute value for the imaginary component; it is just a horizontal reflection. While the copy-pasting was a bit tedious, I find the final photoshoped overlay interesting. I knew I had area of high concentrations because of my system of copying interesting starting regions. But there are also areas that I have completely neglected.
Now I that I have a map, I know where to go exploring!

There are just six images in this series. They are Julia fractals using the "distance estimator" rendering method. All of them were taken from the quickly escaping regions outside the base Mandelbrot. While some of the end results are nifty, they aren't as interesting to me.

That last one, "Tropical Storm", reminded me a lot of seahorses.

Very nice. That one is the least fractal-looking. I wonder how a-symmetrical/unrepeating of an image you can create in the Mandelbrot set.
