I can't believe they have time to be concerned with a bill like that. Still, w00t!

Is Mole Day "official"? I remember mith let us celebrate that in Chemistry class one year. I wonder if he remembers or if he just blocked that entire teaching stint from his memory.

When I watch any movie I try to remember where I saw everyone in it previously. With IMDB my memory is no longer a detriment. Some of the associations I've found recently are:

The Dwarf in the Fellowship of the Ring was also Indiana Jones's friend in the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Indy's nemesis who collaborated with the Nazis, was also Ivan Ooze in the Power Rangers Movie.

My wife and I watched back-to-back-to-back episodes of Camelot - A TV miniseries from a couple of years ago. Midway through the third one we suddenly realized that a major character was Vespa from Casino Royale.

General Zod in an upcoming Superman movie (Man of Steel) appeared in Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. He uttered the line "Wrestlemania? No way!!!!!"

Just imagine, we are raising a whole generation with IMDB, Wikipedia, YouTube, etc. Add in spell check and the like, and soon we won't have to remember anything anymore.

No kidding, DM.

Quail, those are very interesting. My wife and I do the same thing. I probably mentioned in the Movie thread, that Jim Cummings is in The Princess and the Frog...and pretty much every cartoon from my childhood. Also, the same group of two or three voice actors was in the Robin Hood cartoon, Aristocats, Jungle Book, and other Disney films of the same time. It's quite fascinating.

Kasidy Yates is Captain Victoria Gates

Who DOESN'T recogonize actors for newer roles when they rewatch older things? It's half the fun. Cannibal

I don't mind if you talk about it after the movie is over.

But if you're one of those people who talks about it during the movie?

I will stab you. In the face. With your own femur.

They're usually minor roles in both movies. One that I looked up last week was in Wreck-it Ralph. There's a character whose voice was clearly based on the wacko uncle in Mary Poppins, who floated to the ceiling when he laughed really hard. The guy in Wreck-it Ralph also provided the voice for Sonny in I, Robot.

I don't remember where I read this, but it was a few days ago, and my first thought was that it was an April Fools joke for the very gullible. Turns out it actually works. If you need reading glasses to read small print, but don't have them with you, a workaround is to place the tips of your thumbs and forefingers of both hands together forming a tiny pinhole space in between them. Bring the pinhole close to one eye, and look through at the fine print. You're essentially creating a pinhole lens, and can actually read small print that you wouldn't otherwise be able to. Not convenient enough to do regularly, but in a pinch where you need to read some fine print and you don't have your glasses, it works.

There's a hashtag on Twitter for the news that Margaret Thatcher has died.

It's #nowthatchersdead

A lot of people have been misreading it as saying something else entirely...

Wait, people didn't notice the author?

Also, I don't care how little the title had to do with the episode, "the bells of St. John are ringing" was hilarious and awesome.

Watching Waterworld last night, I realized that the little girl with the map tattoo on her back is also Napoleon Dynamite's friend.

And the guy in Major League who played the crazy Jamaican (or whatever) who burned incense and kept snakes is now the spokesman for Allstate Insurance. I don't know how many of those ads I saw before I recognized him.

I'm about a week behind, I just watched this a couple nights ago. Confession: I thought the author name sounded familiar, but couldn't place it, and thought nothing more of it until 10 minutes later, when it hit me. I, too, enjoyed the "Bells of St. John" pun (?) thing. Felicitous

My mother was visiting my grandfather in the hospital (he had pneumonia. He's fine now).

What my wife meant to text her: How are you and your dad doing?
What she actually texted: How are you and your dad dying?

I nearly peed myself with laughter. She made me call my mother and explain, and my mother nearly peed herself with laughter.

I dreamt an old woman came up to me and asked me what the capital of Honduras was. I told her I didn't know. She looked at me disappointedly, answered "It's Tegucigalpa" and walked away.

I woke up sad that I could not answer the question, then realized that I couldn't have dreamed about it if I didn't know the answer to the question.

I've been watching Justice League: Unlimited on Netflix, and it has some pretty witty writing. I've quite enjoyed it.

On a side note, it's a shame that comics and cartoons are often dismissed as a sub-par art form suitable only for children and repressed adults. They actually have some pretty good social commentary which could stand to be taken seriously. (Okay, comics probably aren't treated as badly as that, but they certainly don't get much serious attention.)

You should check out Young Justice when you get a chance. As much as I loved JLU, Young Justice was on a level beyond it.

The other day I saw some blue ducks. I'd never seen anything like that, so I quickly took a picture as I passed by. I later sent that picture to Quailman to see if he could help me identify what kind of duck they were. He proceeded to politely ask me if I saw them move. "Yes," I insisted.

Yeah, they were decoys.
