hehe, taking the diplomatic approach eh Matt? I can just see it, 7 years later, second child comes up, tear in eye, and whispers "dad? why do you call yourself JACK's dad?"

hehe, seriously though, congratulations.

Thanks everyone, no names yet, Jack wasn't named until he was a few days old, but he was also 3 1/2 weeks early. We'll probably wait until the last minute, besides we're not going to find out the sex so that will be a surprise. And since we won't know boy/girl until it's done that will cut the work in half for finding a name.

If it's a boy I think you should name him Robert, but call him Bob. Be sure not to call him Bobby. He'll hate that.

There are no official rules regulating the suggestion of names for babies, but if there were, suggesting your own name would definatly be a no-no, Quailman.

Sofis: You are absolutely right about suggesting one's own name. How about Kevin Lin?

You butter-up .

I wonder, though... are there some sort of benefits to be gained from kissing up to the Minotaur? If there are, I must say it's a great name you thought of, Quailman. Really great.

No, no, it's too obvious. How about Theseus? Or Ariadne if it's a girl.

bumpity bump

Well, I'm truely not just Jack's Dad anymore. We now have a little girl as well. Her name is Bridget. She arrived yesterday (Aug 23rd) weighing in a 7 pounds 12 ounces as is 22 inches long. Mom and daughter are both doing fine after an unexpected emergency C-section. Bridget decided she wanted to jump into the world feet first which could have caused all kinds of complications. Boy, watching that c-section was an experience. The family should be comming on Saturday. When Jack saw her the first thing he wanted to do is hold her. So we're all very happy!

Congratulations! Either you'll be pretty scarce around these parts for a while, or you'll be awake anyway, so we'll see posts from you at odd hours. Either way, it's great to hear mother and daughter are doing well!

Kudos to you for watching. This dad would have either been hiding on the floor, or passed out on the floor. Either way, the floor would be my friend...

Congrats!

Congratulations Matt and also to your wife (who did the hard part)!
Mine are well out of the baby stage but where you're at is a great time in any family.
P.S. Good Irish name!

Bridget? You should change her name.

You know what was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard the word Bridget?

Midget.
