My web accounts are all accessible to me at ftp://members.cox.net
Accidentally I clicked 'save password' and now I am not given the option of choosing which account to check. It always accesses the same one without prompt.
I have looked in vain for a way to undo that password memory. Does anyone know how I can set it back? |

Do you use a separate FTP program, or your browser? And if browser, which version?

Clear your cookies and all offline content. Alterternatively, you could could do this:
ftp://tempuser:nopass@members.cox.net/
You'll get a log in screen because the username and password are bogus.

jesternl: IE
HyToFry: I'm not at work and my home system isn't set that way (so I'm not about to test it), but I believe no matter what beginning part you put, it will default to the saved password/login. It did that when I tried other logins. I'll check on Monday though. |

you could go to tools==> internet options==> content==> autocomplete, and then erase all passwords, but that would mean you need to re-enter all your other passwords as well.
You might want to use a different program to get to the site, but from the way you say it it seems you won't have much use for an FTP program like bulletproof. Uusally ftp is used more to get files, and not access other places/accounts, but it might work for you |

jester: I believe I've tried something that simple But I'll double check on Monday
I accessed it earlier using FTP Voyager. It's just that I would prefer to just use IE and logically there should be a way to undo it. Of course, we are speaking of Microsoft..... |

Just double checked here at work and neither of those work.
Apparently, the choice is with me till the end of time. |

Can you not log out, then log in again under the correct one in IE?
That is - if you can logout, is there an interface from which you can choose which account, and can you tell it to forget the password? |

It bypasses that once you click 'save password'
But no, no logout option.

So where did you click Save Password? In the account/password box that IE pops up from time to time?
And I figured it couldn't hurt to point out the obvious

A few other things you can try.
Firstly, exactly what are you using to access the website? Is it Internet Explorere, or another program?
Secondly, have you tried using the IP instead of the domain name? |

Hy: It's IE. (I answered that already ). I don't know the IP.
JesterNL: When you log into an FTP site it will give you the Account/password box. However, if you click 'Save Password' you will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever see that box again for that site. Not from that computer anyway. Unless you ghost it. Or figure out the secret to undoing it. |

Okay then try the following:
Use the ip: ftp://68.1.17.8
Change your password for the account that you saved it under. That will cause IE to ask.
This way is a bit more complex:
Open regestry editor. (Start->Run... regedit)
Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Ftp\Accounts\ delete the members.cox.net key.
Browse to HKEY_USERS\SomeRandomNumber... not sure what..\Software\Microsoft\Ftp\Accounts\ delete the members.cox.net key.
If none of these methods work: suffer.
BTW, your copy of IE is messed up. Mine always asks me first...

Option I and Option II both worked thanks.
That's odd about you IE. I've had mine behave this way on several computers. |

Seriously though... get smart ftp or ws_ftp. Both are more better than IE FTP. |
