No, but I used black paper tape. It was one inch wide and data was stored on it by punching holes in it at ten bytes per second. It was read back by using pins to detect the holes. Later we got an optical reader that detected the holes by shining a light through them. It stored ten bytes to the inch. Sometimes hanging chad would cause a tape to be misread and it would have to be searched for and removed. If I wanted to store the contents of my current hard drive on that system I'd need 50,000 miles of tape and it would take a century to punch it.

Well my IBM PS/2 286 came with an expanded memory card to go from 1 MB Ram to 2.5, so there I think I had a 30 MB hard drive.

7/8, mainly because I've always been behind the times. I played with punch cards a bit as a kid, along with the '64, the Apple II, and finally the 286 at school - stuff that had been donated from companies that couldn't use them anymore.

My family's first computer, in 1995 (I think), was a 486DX-2. It was so ahead of it's time that I could actually buy games for it at the computer store. We didn't replace it until less than a year ago, and my sister is going to take it to school with her next year.

I skipped from an Atari 800 to a 386 (with a floating point co-processor!). I bragged about the co-processor - it allowed me to plot images of the mandelbrot set (fractals) that would not otherwise have been feasible.

Standard what?
They were the standard, and only, kind of monitor once. I've used the green screen ones, and orange, and white. I had a green screen hooked to a 300k modem for dial-up to CUNY-VM (City University of New York), with access to BITNET.
But there were also tele-type printers that were used as terminals, so they weren't the standard terminal console device.
