About an hour ago, during on of my usual bouts of insomnia, I spotted the beginnings of what looked like it would be a gorgeous sunrise, so I walked down to the beach to check it out.

Wow. And may I say again, wow. The sunrise was ridiculously glorious - the colours were like what you see in cartoons, or those old Technicolour movies where they crank all the shades up a few notches. I've never seen the ocean as calm as it was this morning - just an endless shimmering sheet stretching out into the horizon. So there I am standing there with the waves foaming around my ankles (the water was pleasantly warm compared to the chilly winter air... mmmm) staring at these brilliant colours blending into the air all around me, and I thought of two things. Firstly, I said a prayer of joy in my heart for this incredible world - God is always there, but at times like that you can just feel him all around you. Over the rushing of the waves I could almost hear the trumpets of the angels.

And secondly, I thought of all of you who are on the other side of the world, who can still see the sun or just watched it go down. The pang that gave me made me realise what a strong attachment I feel to all of you, and I hope some of you were watching the sun as I was.

(Yes, this is just an extended version of Vinny's "I lover you" thread. )

I walked home singing.

I usually drive home into the sunset, and I'm fairly confident in saying that it was exceptionally bright today. I tried to take a couple pictures from the car, but the battery that powers the exposure meter in my car died, and I'm not sure how blurry a picture taken at freeway speeds is going to turn out...

Actually, I would like to add my own spontaneous joy...

Today I found out the exact porceedure for me to get my HIV test out to Juneau to get an Apostile stamp! This took me about 4 days to find out...and now all these important documents are on there way to the secratary of state (express mail is expensive ) ya! I finally am nearly done with my visa requirements!!!!!! yaa!!!!

ok, its boring compared to a cool sunrise, but it was a very happy moment for me

I would have been looking at the same sun as you, Mackay, but as a monsoon hovered over Akron all day...

I also envy you for living near an ocean. I've never seen one.

But, as this is a thread about joy, I'll say something happy.

Since we live on the West Coast, we get to watch the sun rise over the Pacific Ocean. Sometimes I think Pacific Sunrises are even more beautiful than Atlantic Sunrises.
