Has anyone seen it? I saw it in Vegas, and found it quite amusing, even if for all the wrong reasons. Since I assume most GLers will be familiar with the original works, I guess most of you would like it as well, though I'd hate to think Oscar Wilde may be turning in his grave
Sorta reminds me of my mixed theme mafia, really.

I saw it the other day with my parents, but I didn't know all of the people.

I knew Nemo, Invisible Man, Dracula's Wife, and Dr Jeckle/Mr. Hyde; but I had never heard of Dorian Gray or ...see, his name escapes me. The one played by Sean Connery. Qua...something. Oh yeah, Quartermane. Anyway, it was an enjoyable movie, not much of a plot, but who cares?

Dorian Gray is the main character in an Oscar Wilde book about a person who has his portrait taken, and the portrait ages for him, as well as reflects all of his negative qualities. It becomes hideous and he hides it in the basement, and eventually he can't take it anymore, destroys it and then dies.[Original book spoiler] He doesn't fight Kung-Fu, though. Nor is he immortal.[Movie spoiler]

I didn't pick up on who that pesky yank was supposed to be until I read the end credits. I really tried to enjoy the movie, but I couldn't ignore the insane lack of reality in what was supposed to be a film set in 1899. I can deal with X2's crazy technology, and I can deal with the incredible aerobics in The Matrix, and I can deal with directors using pocketwatches in period films, but I couldn't convince myself that all three of these infractions on reality should happen in a single film. Maybe I need my suspension of belief re-aligned.

I saw it, recognized everyone. However, this movie, while based on these literary characters is actually based on a graphic novel, so their physical attributes may be true to the literature, but their powers are not. I had issues with my suspension of disbelief other than the fight scenes and obviously advanced technology when The Nautilus managed to navigate up Venice's canals, the Seine and the Thames (are they really that deep or wide?), that a high speed car ride showed no other people out walking on these roads, and other shots of the Nautilus gave a lie to the different scales used to portray the ship whenever it wouldn't fit the scene.

I was impressed that the Nautilus's escape pod (vaguely resembling a large spikey wheel with a hub on one side) managed to not go in circles and could be tracked by GPS.

I haven't seen the movie, only a few ads of it, but for those interested, as far as I know, I am the lead character (the hero, if I might say so myself) from King Solomon's Mines. And I don't know why I should make this invisible, but everybody is doing it.
