Okay, this is kinda weird.

My Grandma has some weird printer (BJC-2110) that I have know clue how to troubleshoot. Here's the situation:

We tried printing from Microsoft Word, and it acts like it prints, but no ink is on the paper. we printed a test pattern, and that works fine. It's not a problem w/ Word, because we tried from IE, same problem. We installed a new driver, rebooted, etc.
Any ideas?

Any, ANY information is GREATLY appreciated.

Well, I'm going home now. I'll be checking regularly.

I had the same problem, but it was my parents' printer.
I was told by a couple people that it was busted beyond repair and that I should just get a new one (I think said people were on commission).

If a test page prints, I doubt it's a problem with the printer.

Can you print a simple text file from notepad?

I've seen this sort of thing happen. Whenever I try to print maps from MS MapPoint (or whatever they call it) to a color printer where I work, the map comes out blank (the border and title prints though). It prints fine to other printers, and everything else prints fine to that color printer. Never did figure it out though.

Try this:
Assuming Win 95/98

Start->Find->Files or Folders

Named: Normal.dot

Delete any files with this name.
Reboot.. 'cause it's Windows.

Try again.

Does the test page print correctly?

I just monkeyed around installing my new printer, and the black ink cartridge was misconfigured (as in it didn't know it was there). I could print color, the test page came up with the microsoft windows icon in the top right, but nothing else. I had to reconfigure my black cartride in order to print black.

Well, if I don't fix it in a week, she's going to go buy a new one, which is really no big deal (they're only like $15).

extro: nope, notepad print's blank, too.

jades: Win ME. I dunno if it'll work; I'm not there right now, and explaining it to her would take a LONG time.

Planky: no, we haven't swapped cables, and I forget the port.

Eykir: Yes, it prints correctly.

And, before anyone asks, I checked the printer for white ink.

Ok, WinME:

Start->Search->For Files or Folders

Named: Normal.dot

Delete any files with this name.
Reboot.. 'cause it's Windows.

Try again. If the problem lies with the MSWord software this should fix it.

That won't work Jade. notepad prints blank too. I don't know what the hell is wrong with his printer...

Try this if you're not using usb. (if you're using usb, then this is pointless)

Turn on the computer, and watch for a message that says "hit ??? to enter setup" where ??? is F1, or Del, or F10... or... or... most likely, it's the delete key. If you see no message, then hit delete.

In setup, find peripherals. Find the LPT (or printer port) and make sure that it's set to EPP and not bidirectional, or any thing else. find the option to save settings Reboot and try it.
