No, i'll still be here, I just won't be chatting.

Why?

Well, I got a new mouse, and this all may be coincidence, but right after I installed it, all chat software died.

Trill, yahoo. Yup. Gone.

I'm back to my old mouse now, all remnants of the new one as gone as I can make them. I even completly wiped trill from my system. I try to install Trill .74, b ut it says this

I try going back to .73, shouldn't have to redownload or anything. Same error. I can't even get through install on either one. Then I try Yahoo, maybe somebody can help me. It loads and connects fine, and then

Take a blow torch to your computer and watch that baby melt! Then go buy a new one, but don't melt it.

Okay, I recall something important about the date being screwy like that, but I don't know what for sure. Care to tell me?

Certain programming has a flaw in it. The date process is done by counting the number of seconds from a certain date (in most cases, 0:00 Jan 1, 1980). This leads to a problem with dates about mid 2032, as the system counts as high as it can. So computers with a date after 2032 will often run into problems with some of the software that has that program glitch.

Was your date really set to 2041?

*bows* Yes, that year of working tech support paid off. You end up learning little tricks like that. It's not always the right answer, but it's obscure enough that when I ask it, once in a while it helps. Hope you get everything working.

I may have to keep that in mind.

It's a simple trouble-shooting step that usually is NOT the answer, but it's such an easy thing to check that I liked using that first. Like I said, it's obscure enough that you don't look for it unless you know it. Glad it helped you, but now I'm heading to bed.

Coincidence that it happened when the mouse was changed?

Halo 2 is a lot like Halo 1, only it's Halo 1 on fire, going 130 miles per hour through a hospital zone, being chased by helicopters and ninjas, and the ninjas are all on fire, too.
