I swear there used to be a thread devoted to this cause... but I must be loopy. (not that we didn't already know that)

Today, I'll be seeing Lollapalooza which means I won't be online. Those who have my pager number can still chat with me if you want. Those who don't, can suffer.. muahahhahahahah.

Later.

The concert was hot and then it rained icy rain, and the bands in general were average.

I got the set list from Kings of Leon and they all signed it.

Great concert.

This is my list of bigger events (excluding the local shows that I see, because you people won't have a clue who they are)

These bands I am seeing, and I've already got my tickets for.
  • 311 - 8/30/2003
(in my defense... Something Corperate is opening, and I'm leaving after they open. )
  • Dashboard Confessional - 9/30/2003
(With Vendetta Red, Brand New, and MXPX... God this show will kick ass.)
  • Saves the Day / Taking Back Sunday - 10/11/2003
TBS is the band that sings the song that my signature is from.

I'll also see at least four of the following concerts, but I haven't decided who yet...
The Wailers - 8/26/2003
Radiohead - 8/28/2003
Andrew W.K. - 8/29/2003
Styx - 9/10/2003
Gallagher - 9/12/2003
ZZ Top / Ted Nugent - 9/17/2003
Insane Clown Posse - 9/24/2003
Bowling for Soup - 9/26/2003
Sony/X96 Big Ass Show - 9/27/2003
Hot Hot Heat - 9/30/2003
Godsmack - 10/19/2003

------------------
The truth is, you could slit my throat, and, with my one last gasping breath, I'd apologize for bleeding on your shirt.

I get to go see Robert Earl Keen next weekend at Saengerhalle in New Braunfels (between San Antonio and Texas). It should be a fun weekend camping in the popup and fishing the Guadalupe River near there, at least. I am not a big fan of country music - not even a little fan of it. It's just one of those things you do when you're married - not going to Country Western concerts, per se - going to weekend get-togethers with other couples.

Robert Earl Keen is fine singer-songwriter, Quailman.(I am a big fan of Country and Western)

And if I were Hy, the four concerts I'd pick would be Radiohead, Gallagher, ZZtop/Ted Nugent, and Godsmack, but that's just me.

I wish I had more money to see concerts more. I go when I can to local clubs to see the indie bands.

I went to Tom last night with a few of my friends. It was awesome. The man can still move around like a sex god and he's like 70. I was very impressed.

Oh. I got some pics (like 20 or so) I had to use a disposable camera, but I'll get them photo CD'd and put them up when I get them back. You'll all be so jealous, I just know it.

I've never been to a concert. Does it ever get too hot when you're surrounded by so many other people? Does it change whether you're outdoors or indoors?

The worst are indoor GA (General Admission... no seats) concerts. I'm always hot and sweatty, and, saddly, most of the sweat isn't mine. Gross.

The best are outdoor seated (which is what I've been attending a lot of recently. Including Tom Jones, Something Corperate, and tomorrow's Chicago concert. At the end of next month, I'm going to Brand New in Saltair. It's an indoor venue. It's GA. It has no windows (which would be a good thing except that...) It sits right next to the Great Salt Lake. The lake does not smell pretty, and the humidity from the lake gets into the Venue.

But the bands are great.

I forgot to say: I think I saw Kira at the concert, but she wouldn't answer me (if it was her). I'm pretty sure that it was, and I think she's still mad at me... (not that I blame her)

I'm such a jerk.

(For those of you who don't know who Kira is, she's my ex.)

I had a great time in New Braunfels seeing Robert Earl Keen. The opener was Roger Creager, who was surprisingly good himself. He had a great fiddler with him. Robert Earl Keen wasn't nearly as c/w as I thought he'd be. One first: I had never heard Tangled Up in Blue played with a steel guitar accompaniment before. Then I remembered that in Texas there's a state law that requires any professional music performance other than a symphony orchestra to have at least one steel guitar in the mix.

Band: Downhere
Genre: Christian Rock
Rating: Got the t-shirt signed by all four members.
Co-Hooligans: 9 chicks and a guy, mostly old friends
Interesting lines from the long story:
  • We had a mosh pit in the front few pews, and I kept running into the church's organ.
  • Afterwards, they took stools outside and chatted with everyone on the way out.
  • It's totally weird to go to a rock concert, and then stop halfway through for a World Vision movie and a group prayer session.
  • We stopped off on main street to pick up some of our party, and this old guy just about had a heart attack laughing as we stuck two of the chicks in the van's hatch and drove away.
    Would you go again? Absolutely.

    David Usher tonight.

Edit: David Usher was the lead singer for canuck rockers Moist in the mid-90's, and is no relation to the american atrocity who assumes the same (last) name.

This was the first stop in his tour, and I cannot imagine how it might sound by the time he gets to Yourcity. So, check it out and have a good time grinding with hotchickinfrontofyou. I sure did. :-D
