Rules (Copied and Pasted from some other mafia game)

THE RULES (stolen from Mgm mostly, as usual)
[00] Newbies should try to make themselves familiar with the basic rules of mafia as described in the FAQ and theory sections on http://www.mafiascum.net (Reading older games wouldn't hurt either)
[01] Have fun and don't be a jerk. Please have consideration for the other players and the mods, and actually PLAY the game by posting and voting. If you cannot post for some reason, please contact the mod.
[02] No communication outside the thread unless your role allows you to do so.
[03] Get your choices in before the deadlines. If not, no choice will be made. Or I might just make an evil choice for you. You have been warned.
[04] No quoting role PMs, night messages or the mods without permission. If you have a death wish, request replacement. When in doubt ask the mod.
[05] If you're dead YOU'RE DEAD. No more posting relevant information after that. One bah post is allowed.
[06] Lynching will be carried out once the number of votes needed is reached.
[07] Only votes in BOLD will be counted. Unvotes are mandatory. eg: Vote: pete d or unvote, vote: pete d
[08] Only votes with players correctly spelled names (or abbreviations, see player list) will count.
[09] Do NOT edit or delete your posts under pain of modkilling! If you made a coding error, just post again.
[10] Do NOT post in invisible text or at night.
[11] The mods are always right. Deal with it.
[12] The game will begin with Day 1, then Night 1, then Day 2, etc...

EXTRA RULES

[13] Each day, certain abilities will be able to spread gossip. This will be in the form "<player> is <innocent/scum>". EG: "You hear a rumour that pete d is scum!". I will announce gossip publicly in the game thread (the player who made the gossip remains anonymous). It is up to you how you choose to interpret these items of gossip.

Here! (raises left hand only to bring it back down quickly in pain)

Hand Update: (from lost mafia) I was eating the skin off of my left thumb when I accidentally revealed my scar yet again. Now portion of left thumb scar revealed; pain returns to me whenever I touch said scar.

I will attempt to answer Tse's question using day 1 logic, as we are going into day 1 and thus, this seems to be the logical thing to do.

I posted first -----------------------------------> Scumtell
I am playing in this game---------------------> Raises my chances of being scum from 0% to 20-25%
I'm replying to Tse's post concerning me -> OMGIS I'm defending myself, scumtell

By that reasoning, conclude at will...

By that you either want us to think that your are not scum...or maybe you are scum and post that to make us think the opposite...

You seem to know whats going on, so you have a good target on yourself for scum, but how much are you trying to play us?

Hmm... by more day 1 logic:

let's say that x1 is the seriousness of day 1, x2 of day 2, and so on until x(l) which is the seriousness of the last day.
The seriousness of the day is directly proportional to the amount of information that we have (other than our mod PMs)
By this logic, we can safely assume that the level of seriousness increases as the days progress.
Since at the beginning of day 1 we have no information whatsoever to go on, x1 = 0
Since this is not night, as we can talk, and the next day is Day 1, this must be Day 0
thus, the seriousness of today shall be denoted as x0
By my conclusion on line 3 of the proof, x0 < x1
Thus, x0 < 0

"What is the difference" you say, "between x0 and x1?"
The answer:
x1 = 0, this means that we do not make conscious decisions; we randomly accuse people and jump on bandwagons for no reason.
x0 < 0, this, however, means that we DO indeed make conscious decisions, but our logic is reversed; essentially, we might go: 3+1=?, hmm, we start with 3, then we go down 1, we get 2! 3+1=2 Eureka!

(note that my proof above was in day 1 logic, not day 0)

Gossip may be spreading like wild fire, but paranoia isn't doing a bad job of spreading either. The first to post is usually from the person who is most interested in playing (or they happen to be in the right time zone when the thread opens). First post rarely ever means someone is scum.

Confirming.

As I understand Livingod's logic, we know less than nothing, since were in a Day Before Days. Accordingly, Livingod thinks himself wiser than Socrates, who held that the one was wisest who knew he knew nothing. Hence the surreal arithmetic.

@bird: Sense? What is that? As I have clearly stated in my post, I am using day 1 logic, and the following statement is always true:

(day 1) XOR (sense)

since (day 1) is true, (sense) must be false.
Go figure...

Pretty sure this is pure tosh. Why are we excluding our mod PMs, isn't there a second factor in serioussness besides information (ie. status - GG:BG ratios etc), and given we have no information now, isn't x1 the "seriousness" (ie informedness) of day 0 - aren't we now at the point where we have nothing much to go on, but still have functional systems of logic in place?

If you want a point-by-point debunking of your argument, I will greatly enjoy providing it Extreme Delectation

Look, tells at this point are weak, and should be treated as such. However, let's not go down the path of only using "hard" info - death patterns, cop investigations and so forth - because a town that only uses those is a town asking for a defeat. Besides which, random and pseudo-random bandwagons at this stage can be hugely beneficial at later stages, by forcing all players to make a call and so laying down a papertrail that can be reinvestigated down the line when there's more hard evidence in play, or even by provoking an "overly" response that can lead to a good Day 1 lynch.

In other words? No, I for one am not treating this game stage as nonexistent or irrelevent, and I think it's a (weak) tell that you're encouraging people to do that.

my "proofs" were meant to be debunked. As you can tell, I have no intention of taking them seriously myself. I was just getting the day 1 mood going. I agree with Mgm that paranoia has quickly set in; this is VERY uncommon for a GL game. (as far as the games I've played/read)

Loosen up, don't take day 1 THAT seriously, just look for a good lynch candidate. And don't look for candidates by what they say, instead by how they act.

Now I'm just itching to vote someone right now, but seeing as how everyone so far is trigger-happy, I will go for the safe bet of Vote: ChannelDelibird for the sake of old times, shall I say. Felicitous
