My choir did a dinner theatre tonight. Seven Courses, with music between each course. It went really well, but long, and now I'm wired for sound with all the performance adrenaline still going three hours after dinner was done. It will wear off and I'll crash soon.

I'm writing about Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Immanuel Kant, and the extent to which the political philosophies of both are grounded in realistic understandings of human psychology and motivations. It seems to me that Rousseau's social contract is--oops, I'm typing into the wrong box. Back to work...

I actually like both Rousseau and Kant. But that doesn't mean that there aren't other things I would rather be doing at 5 AM. E.g., doing nothing at all.

Ugh. 1:30 in the morning. Best shows on TV are TV Funland and Blue Gender. Radio is packed with advertisements. Homework lied across the floor from Friday. Essay due tomorrow that I have 0% done. Clothes everywhere. Videotapes scattered among the shelves.

And the damn "Off" light on my VCR keeps me awake.

So I turn the TV on and search through all 86 channels, looking for infomercials that look the least bit appealing. Eat your bills away. Lose weight and grow back hair. Satellite TV that cooks a turkey in 5 minutes. All garbage.

So, I end up watching TV Funhouse. More garbage than the infomercials. Stupid cartoon about eating poop. Cut to commercial of the South Park gang repeating the word "cool" 50 times. Then the devil talks about Tenacious D. I hate insomnia.

Well, I have just over 4 hours before I need to get up, stumble through my bedroom, get ready for school, and do my Chemistry homework in Calculus. Let me go try to sleep. Night.

The toilet has been acting up, and it's a very annoying issue at 4AM when you've been up all night trying to get it to work, and the superintendents are having a day off, and I had an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet for supper. This toilet simply has to work before morning!

Of course, being awake and active trying to fix this is simply helping my system speed up digestion, so I'm waiting for another 1/2 an hour and going to a friend's house for the facilities...

(It's amazing what you can reveal to people you don't really know well when they have no recourse to avoid hearing it from you.
