My beloved company was sold to our hated competitor a month or so ago. About the same time, I was recruited by another company for a VP position and went there to interview, along with two other candidates. I've been invited back for a second interview, but the other two weren't, so I'm now the only candidate, and apparently will be getting an offer.

If it happens, I will be relocating to a very different part of the country, generally speaking, the Midwest. The closing on the sale of the company won't be until at least April, so I'll have to stay until then to get my retention bonus and exercise my stock options. After that, a new adventure, perhaps.

I totally agree! I grew up in Canton and went to college in Pittsburgh. I'm now talking about North Dakota....that's still midwest, isn't it?

The Dakotas are in the west but the subject rarely comes up because no one lives there.

I expect people will poke fun at me now, moving to Fargo, but we'll see who has the last laugh when global warming takes the average temp in Phoenix to 140 and Fargo will then be a comfy 70. Mwahahahahaha.

Actually global warming is going to cause glaciation in the Dakotas. Don't you know how this works yet?

Already found a house and have pictures, but don't know how to post them. I'll email them to Quailman, and maybe he can post them on here.

Just emailed them to q-man. Check out that office! The current occupant is the guy who built it and he's going to build himself a new one this summer, so this one isn't listed yet, but is for sale. I don't even know the asking price yet, and Mrs P. hasn't seen it, but I have a feeling she'll approve.

Great! When I was there it was -8. Very invigorating. My wife already ordered some boots that are rated for -40. I think we're more worried about mosquitoes than cold.

I love the legs on the little side table in the living room.

Beautiful house. How much land is it on?

I don't have any idea why, but we are absolutely not bothered by them here in Eugene. We've been eaten alive on some of our bike trips in central Oregon, but not here. I don't even think they spray for them. No one ever mentions mosquitoes.

No one in San Diego ever sees Candyman, but that's because we don't mention Candyman. At least not three times in a row while looking in the mirror.

So this is the new place. Looking good, Pablo!

They aren't kidding about the cold, wind chill there is esp brutal. I guess the wind doesn't have much in the landscape there to slow it down.

I read a little discussion about the wild back yard. Let's see the pics of that sometime.

you can go to

http://www.terrybeckerconstruction.com/php/products.php

and click on the ‘custom homes’ picture, then click on ‘next’ until you come to the second house…a mauve colored stucco house. There are about 8 pictures of the outside, including the back yard and red brick patio. If you click on ‘custom cabinetry’, the first two pictures show our office and kitchen. Under ‘millwork’, the second and third pictures are our house. Under ‘home furnishings’ it’s pics 5,6,7 and 8.
