As DaveR has pointed out in the Off-Topic Forum, there seems to be a desire to have a place where simple statistics can be obtained. Problems that I foresee include people that register for just a few posts and the fact that it does draw attention to quantity as opposed to quality. A possible solution would be to list stats for Daedalians. The stats would be interesting and may be a source for future puzzles. Who knows what we will come up with!
Also, and I know this belongs in the AtM forum, can a User be deleted? Say, a person registers a new user for a few posts and abandons them, can they delete themselves? If so, how? Thank you! |

Alfie:
Feature requests noted. Both of these sound like features that can be "added on" to UBB (the software that runs the forum) without modifying the core code. So they're more likely to occur than features that do modify the core. Right now I'll regard these as low priority features. If more users want this (remembering that new features come at the expense of other new features) post into this thread, and I'll boost it's priority.
Thanks for the request. |

| I agree with Alfie that there may be a problem stem from the fact that we look at quantity instead of quality. It seems to be human nature (except in American politics where we get neither quality nor quantity). We all like to 'rack up the points'. I can't think of any solution to this problem. Having frequented this site for several months, I have several 'favorites' meaning that when I see they have posted a puzzle, I look at it. Others I can take or leave. However, there is no way to fix this problem short of some kind of popularity contest which we can all certainly do without. |

| I don't believe that the quantity vs. quality problem can be coded into the system. The problem needs to be adressed by the members themselves. If everytime a person regularly posts for the sake of posting, (Like posting, "I agree," on every already solved puzzle) the people simply ask them to limit the posting it would likely solve the problem. DaveR did an excellent job of setting everyone back on course and should the problem arise again another person can set it back on course. |
