I'm running a mini that is something of a prequel for the original 20 player game. That game is ongoing now. Anyone who wishes to be contacted if a replacement becomes necessary may do so by posting a message containing /replace. Anyone who wishes to reserve a spot in the mega, which I will run when this game ends, may do so by posting a message containing /reserve. Please do not reserve a spot unless you are certain you'll be available in a few months when the mini ends; there will likely still be spots open for you when I'm ready to run the mega.
Update: Seeking a replacement for CrashTextDummie.
Players in the mini:
1. Projectyl
2. Amb
3. Cephrir
4. CzarJ
5. Nauplius (replacing now a ranger)
6. theopholis
7. Courk
8. lexprod
9. Poisonium (replacing Sniklac16)
10. CrashTextDummie
11. Livingod
12. Undercover Monk

I'm still working on catching up on the show. I only have ~6 episodes. I'm /in as long as I can finish the series before the game starts (shouldn't be more than 2 more days)

And I agree, more people should sign up.
For anyone who needs to catch up on any of the Heroes episodes, they are all available online at the NBC web site. All are uncut and presented with limited commercial interruption. It's a fantastic idea, especially for those of us who can't always be available for a full hour at the time the show airs. All shows should be online like this. |

You sound like the announcement at the beginning of each ep. It's stuck in my head since I've watched 19 episodes in 3 or so days.

Or for people who skipped the entire season and are now desperately trying to catch up. I don't typically have much time to myself during the school year, so I don't really like to start new shows unless I *know* they'll be good. When you're talking about an hour-long show, I'm even more unlikely to watch it. So I didn't start Heroes when it started. I heard it was awesome, but by that time I was behind.
I think this is not only convenient for people who watched the show in the first place, but it has to help their ratings. I'll be watching next season because I'll be caught up by then. Without this, I would have had to catch reruns, if they show any, or buy/rent the DVD, which would be expensive, plus when will that even come out -- close to the new season starting?
My brother already watched the episodes, so he's telling me when I can skip Nikki's sections. Jiminy, does she annoy me. |

The DVD comes out August 28th; not sure when the next season starts, but I assume late September. As someone who's been watching the episodes online because he doesn't feel like paying for cable televison to watch one show, I don't blame you for not wanting to wait. _________________ Heroes Mafia Mega signups in progress: http://www.greylabyrinth.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=12124 |

The first episode I watched was the one where the story jumped back six months to show how everything began, and I was completely lost. That was the worst possible point to start watching the show. I decided to check online because a lot of shows will have the previous episode available for a week until the new episode comes out, then it switches. Lo and behold, they were all there...and viewable! It was my greatest online discovery of 2006. |

*is caught up on the show*
"Five Years Gone" was a pretty sweet episode.
[Peter and future Hiro fighting in that building was pretty cool. I especially liked: "Should we freeze time?" "Nah, I haven't had a good fight in years."
Also, whenever Peter walked in an angry fashion, especially if he did it while going from invisible to visible.
I can't remember the exact episode now, but present-day Peter's and present-day Sylar's fight was good.]
Amb, you need to find this show and watch it. Does the NBC website know you're not from America? |

I've been considering reworking it as a smaller game; the number of players was a balancing factor and I'll need to spend some time figuring out which roles could be removed and which roles that I feel must be in the game would need to be reworked to make sure it remains balanced at a smaller size. I'm also considering starting from scratch to run a mini representing an earlier point in the show so that I can save the set-up for the 20 player version and run it without the mini having given away too much of the setup. Short version: I'll run it as a mini if we can't get more players, but it will be more fun and more easy to balance the more players we can get, so I'm inclined to give it another week or so before I give up on more signups. I dunno if actively soliciting signups is frowned upon here, but it might help if some of the people who've been on the board for a while poked some friends who they think would enjoy the game; I also appreciate the ad that Courk had in her sig for a while. _________________ Heroes Mafia Mega signups in progress: http://www.greylabyrinth.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=12124 |

I spent some time working with the mini idea and came up with a good setup that I think will be fun. It's not connected to my original 20 person game so I should be able to run the larger game after the mini ends if people are still interested (it also avoids the balance problems that pruning my 20 person version down to 12 people would have caused). I need to do some more tweaking on it, but I can start the mini this weekend if people would rather do that than wait and try to get enough for the larger game. It'd be helpful if people could either leave a comment here or PM me to let me know which they'd prefer. _________________ Heroes Mafia Mega signups in progress: http://www.greylabyrinth.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=12124 |

| I would like to play sometime (despite knowing absolutely nothing about Heroes and being a complete newbie) only I would struggle to find the time right now. I haven't even had chance to properly get stuck into Courk's Manatee Mafia, although I hope to commit some more time to that soon. I would really like to be able to do justice to your efforts in creating an inventive setup, and as I don't feel I could just now, that is the reason why I've not signed up so far. I would hope that any miniaturisation does not spoil the big designs you have. If you can defer a short while I would hope to be able to participate in the big game in the future. |

My vote's for the big game; I have a hard time imaging a 12-player setup that'd do the subject matter justice. _________________ "I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do with a lifetime supply of chocolate..." |

I'm leaning towards running the small one and then running the big one after. The mini I've created can be seen as something of a prequel to the large one, anyway. If there's anyone who does not want to play if I go with the 12 player game, let me know; otherwise I'll send out PMs this weekend. _________________ Heroes Mafia Mega signups in progress: http://www.greylabyrinth.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=12124 |

Just a note to everyone who may be expecting large amounts of posts form me in this game: I'm busier now, so don't point fingers at me if my posting seems below my excessive par.
Edit to add: I'm still definitely in this game, no matter how many players. |
