Welcome to GLP. This forum is for discussing the puzzles posted in the Grey Labyrinth.

Things you'll find in this topic: An explanation of the forums, and some help with the php tags you can use in posts. The two posts following this were stolen almost in their entirety from Courk's post in OT.

Please note that the solution to a puzzle is posted when a new puzzle is made available, and not if/when someone posts a solution in the forum. Therefore, a lack of official solution does not mean that a solution posted in the forum is incorrect.
Some puzzles (the potpourris, and possibly other future puzzles) were exceptions to this, but in such cases this will likely be mentioned in the text of the puzzle, and the thread containing the answer temporarily hidden.

Since posting new threads is restricted to moderators and administrators, if you wish to discuss an older puzzle, you will either need to find the old thread for that puzzle and bump it, or ask a mod or admin to open a new one for you. Using the old thread is preferred. If you ask for a new thread, please include the post you wish to make on the subject so that the mod/admin (best person to send this request to is Neo) can judge if a new thread is warranted.

As part of our efforts to eliminate postings from spambots, unregistered/guest posting is only allowed when an asterisk is at the end of the name. So, instead of PuzzleSolver, you become PuzzleSolver*. Registration is always a painless option.

This thread is for discussing possible errors, typos, and other problems in old GL puzzles. All suggestions will be considered, but we reserve the right to disagree with you.

This thread is also open to comments, compliments and complaints. The people who work at updating the Grey Labyrinth are all volunteering their time. Countless hours go into writing, editing, solving, and making a puzzle presentable. On top of that is the work that goes into getting onto the GL, and creating the fancy images you all love. Knowing the work is appreciated makes the job enjoyable.

That said, if you would like to make some sort of contribution, send a PM to me!

Also, in order to get people to post here, I will open this thread to any question you would like to ask me. Please stay within family-friendly questions.

Other Tags

The Grey Labyrinth has several tags you can use to create various effects within your posts. Most of these are self-explanatory, but for completeness' sake, I'll include them all.

All tags contain an opening portion, which is some sort of text enclosed in brackets [tag], and a closing portion, which is usually the same text inside the brackets, but with a forward slash preceding it [/tag]. Some tags are a bit more complicated, and open with [tag=] or something similar, but they still close with a simple [/tag]. Every tag is case sensitive, and are entirely in lowercase, except for more special [list=] and [quote=] options.

[b], [i], [u], and [s] are the most basic tags. They produce bolded text, italicised text, underlined text, and struckthrough text, respectively.

[url] is used to create a link. It is unnecessary to include this tag as long as the "www." is intact with the rest of the linked site's url. However, some urls can be quite long, which is a good time to use the [url=] tag. After the equals sign, include all of the text for the url. It should look like this: [url=http://www.yoursite.com]. You can then include a short title for your link and place it between the opening and closing tags.

[spoiler], [invisible], and [inv] all do the same thing. Text contained within these tags is only viewable when highlighted. This is good for hiding spoilers from people who don't wish to see them. Highlight the blank area before the period for an example: See? It's invisible.

[sup] and [sub] produce ^superscript or _subscript text, respectively.

[code] is a tag that produces text that is all the same width. This is useful for creating simple tables so that it's easy to make everything line up. WWW takes up the same amount of space as lll. Other tags do not work inside of this tag. The coded text appears in a box separating it from the rest of the post.
