Antrax created a new user group for Mafia Mods. Being a member of this group will give you mod powers for the mafia forum, so should you need to edit or delete a player's post for some reason, you can now do that yourself. This power should only be used in games you are running, and only for reasons such as someone blatantly cheating (like cop results after death), or those annoying "I typed a long post but forgot to close the quote tag and it looks really horrible now" things. No abusing powers. Felicitous

This is a BAD IDEA. Leonidas asked me and Antrax for mod powers for his mafia. Antrax got to it before I did but I would have done the same. Leonidas wanted the convenience of handling his thread with mod powers. I trust him, I know that's precisely why he wants them, and I'm sure he won't abuse his ability. I imagine that's why Antrax was so quick to hook Leonidas up.

I do not mean to malign anyone else who is running a game in this forum. But it's not just access to one thread, it's access to the entire forum. That's not a responsibility that you toss around lightly.

I'm ok with the current roll call but please don't add more.

It's not intentional harm that I'm concerned with. It's unintentional harm. I'm just looking at this from a dba type perspective. The more users that you give extended rights, the greater the chance that your database will suffer.

groza: Setting up groups with various rights is a feature of our current php. What you're asking is not, which means it would require a custom mod. I don't know much about the code for the GL but my intuition is that that would be a PITA to code. And probably bug worthy. But if there is some easy adjustment that is stable, I'm all for it.

Human error is the biggest bugaboo for admins anywhere. I know you (probably) won't accidentally delete an entire thread or some post, but what about 5000 Courks?

Do I trust Courk? Sure. Do I trust czarj? Sure. Do I trust mnowax? Sure. Do I trust *individually* a lot of other GLers? Sure. That's not the point. The possibility of error expands exponentially as you add users. It's not the who, it's the how many that worries me.

To delete an entire thread requires going to the moderator panel, checking the box, clicking delete, then confirming your choice. That's a lot of steps for an accident.

Even with a single post you have to confirm your choice.

The number of users with access should remain fairly stable since only mods with active games will be on the list, so it won't be a constantly expanding list. Those on it will change, but the total won't change much.
