Congratulations on Taking the challenge ! We will be having lots of fun in the next upcoming weeks. The first few challenges may seem easy, but they will get harder as time progresses. Good luck to all!
Your First Quickfire Challenge:
The winner of this challenge will get immunity in the Elimination Challenge, plus a secret bonus!
You need to make a puzzle that is designed around a nursery rhyme. It must also be able to be solved by a child with no more than a 2nd grade education. You will have eight days from this post to write and submit to myself. Good Luck! _________________ The Man The Myth The Legend

Wow, I didn't realize that you were hurting *that* much for judges.
Should we assume "average 2nd grader" or "GH's kids?" And are there any generic stipulations about the puzzle or answer? (For example, could my "puzzle" consists of 20 addition problems and all you have to do is sum them?) |

your average 2nd grader. and th point is that it is a relatively easy puzzle. (meaning no hard words for a 2nd grader, and no major math copmutations. Simple logic is okay, ( think simple truth tables with two varibles) _________________ The Man The Myth The Legend

as for the sums puzzle in theory you can do that, but you wouldn't score too much on style.
we will be judging on three distinct categories:
Theme : does the puzzle fit the nursery rhyme?
Technique: Is the puzzle able to be solved" ( according to the challenge)
Style: Is it a cool puzzle? Does it have a wow factor? _________________ The Man The Myth The Legend

Since this is a reality show, we do the individual-interview-for-the-camera thing, right?
| Quote: |
| Aw, this is [bleep], man. I didn't train for years at the Enigmatic Institute so my talents could be wasted on second graders, you know? Nursery rhymes? Gimme a [bleep] break. |
In actuality, still mulling it over. |

Hmm. I didn't see this till just now.
Must it be only a single nursery rhyme, or could it be several.
Can we assume that the 2nd grader in question at least is pretty well-versed in nursery rhymes?
Can it be an interactive puzzle? i.e. what I submit to you is a URL and you have to go there to interact with it? Or does it have to be something that someone could conceivably put into a book?
Are you secretly making a book of puzzles, and this is just a way to get us to do all your work for you? |

| I think this is going to be a round that is a wash for me, not because the theme is difficult, but because I think all of us have a different idea as to what *kind* of puzzle to expect the others to come up with, or how the others will present their puzzle. |

I'd guess they will be amazed at the variety they get. I kept mine simple, but Zag sounds like he's going graphic.

you guys have 48 hours.
also. this is VERY IMPORTANT:::
Anyone who doesn't make a deadline for a quickfire or elimination is put right at the bottom of the list. This means if you are the only one who didn't make the deadline in an elimination challenge, it is possible to be eliminated this way, EVEN IF YOU HAVE IMMUNITY!!!! Don't let it happen to you!
Obviously, if you have an issue with a deadline, please let me know and i will be able to accommodate. _________________ The Man The Myth The Legend

Interview for the camera, à la Tahnan:
| Quote: |
I was a little unsure about this one going in, you know? I mean, part of me figured it would be hard to hide any sort of message in anything. But kids are smart, you know? They think on a totally different level.
Solveable by a second-grader? I think I managed that. But solveable by a judge? Well, only if the judge can think like a second-grader. We'll see how it turns out, I guess. |

See, that's why I asked over 48 hours ago if you'd confirm that you'd gotten it. Perhaps the problem is that you never specified where to send the puzzle; is it not to the email address in your profile? |

Wow. I'd think that reliable service would be more important than the username. Surely there's some variant on it--"MNOWAX-guy", or "theMNOWAX", or something--that could work?
(Also, you misspelled "service" on your website.) |

Why don't you have the domain MNOWAX-dot-com?
How cool am I that I my site is http://www.zag.net? Unfortunately, other than adding my daughter's wedding info to it, I haven't changed it since 1998, back when I was a consultant. (zag.com was taken. It later freed up, and I didn't snatch it quickly enough and some stupid used car exchange got it. They offered to buy zag.net from me, but they didn't offer enough.)
Do you have all the puzzles? Are you going to make them available for us all to see? |
