The animated sitcom championship of the world (err... at least the grey labyrinth.) is here. Who will move on to the final four!

I chose the simpsons since they have a lot more classics than futurama does, but futurama is definitely a worthy opponent, I am sorry to see them go.

Uhh, yeah, take for example the episodes through seasons 2-10 aren't so much of clunkers, even the worst episodes have at least 5-8 minutes of humorous material.

You said classics, not merely good episodes.

The Simpsons "re-enacted" parts of Odysseus and The Iliad.

Although Futurama has better characters, better pop references, a better set-up, and is overall a better show, I think that Simpsons deserves to win here because of the impact it had on modern TV. There would be no Futurama without The Simpsons... in fact, Futurama (as well as the vastly inferior Family Guy and American Dad) wouldn't exist had Simpsons been merely a "good", 5-seasons show.

This isnt about impact otherwise shows like Twilight Zone and the X-files would still be in. This is about if you had to choose to watch either futurama or simpsons on any given night with any random episode which would you choose to watch. Which is your Favorite!

And Family Guy is not vastly inferior.

If I had to make a list I would put...
1. Family Guy
2. South Park
3. Futurama
4. Simpsons
5. American Dad

This one feels to me like the only really close call of the final eight.
Both shows have genius ideas and episodes, and both relish their chances for satire and parody (someone observed that the Simpsons has done almost all of Citizen Kane now in little bits and pieces spread over 15 years...)

So, I voted for one of them. Revenge most foul!

Actually, I believe we are polling for the 'best' television program, and with that.

So in Lepton's opinion, because of its impact, it is the best.

I think this labyrinth should hold a special place for groza529 and AZu... BANNED!

I would consider doing it but I am too drunk to think rationally. Trust me, I had to use the delete key and spell check excessively.

Maybe if you liked less predictable / repetitive shows you'd feel less sore.
Abstaining on this one, current Futurama owns current Simpsons, but best Simpsons owns best Futurama.

I'm not that sure about that - percentage-wise, there's a lot more really bad Simpsons than really bad Futurama. There are 5-6 episodes of Futurama I really don't like, but there are 5 seasons of Simpsons that are completely unwatchable.

How is Heroes repetitive there are some of the best cliff hangers ever. And yeah House is a little repetitive but how can you not love Dr. Gregory House.

And speaking of repetivness The Simpsons is just the same crap over and over. Same with Futurama to a lesser extent

To clarify I voted futurama because I can at least stand most episodes why I despise the simpsons.

Heroes is predictable, not repetitive. House is repetitive. Every episode changes the disease but House keeps repeating the same stale wannabe-sarcasm schticks.
And yes, The Simpsons has lost its originality a while back. Most of the episodes in the recent seasons are either painfully dull (and contain obvious fillers), or just have the characters acting completely out of character. This is a sure sign it's time for The Simpsons to end, IMO.

Really tough choice, but I'm going with the Simpsons just because I can sorof relate to the disfunctional family just like mine, kindof scary though.

I believe in the episode of futurama known as When Aliens Attack, Fry, the main character himself, states that people do not watch television for clever and unexpected situations because it scares them. So their repetitiveness is kind of the point. Wink
