well we're only waiting on Wall-E so I think Im going to declare the game started. And some instructions:

* As the first of several twists, you (the town) will determine when the game is over. If at any time you feel that there are no anti-town agents among you, you may vote to end the game. Simply Vote: Endgame and if a majority is reached the game will end. If there is no anti-town players the town wins, if there is even one anti-player the town losses. Deadlines will not affect the endgame vote but your engame vote will count as your one lynch vote.

There will be more twists to come I going to post the rules and the intro next but feel free to start voting. Good Luck

The Rules: ( stolen from thedragonsprincess who stole it from mnowax who stole it maliciously from poker, who stole it from Mgm, who stole it....)

1. Have fun.
2. There are no unusual game mechanics twists - this is a typical day-and-night Mafia game starting in day. This is the Twilight Zone. Of course there will be twists. Twisted Evil
3. If you're dead, you're dead. You are only allowed to make posts not based on the game, other than a go town or go mafia post, but that's it.
4. No PM communication unless your role allows it.
5. Voting must be in bold in the form of Vote: Talzor. Unvoting must also likewise be in bold: Unvote: Amb Unvoting is not mandatory unless you wish to completely remove your vote from anybody.
6. I hope day deadlines won't have to be established, but if they are, they will be one-week deadlines. Every night has a default three-day deadline. That assumes i make it here in that deadline, if it comes in after the deadline, and I'm not here, I'm counting it.
7. The day will end at a deadline or at the number required to lynch, which will be the first whole number higher than half the number of surviving players (4 for 6, 7 for 13, etc.) If the day ends with the number met, the player lynched will be lynched. If the day ends with a deadline, the player with the most votes will be lynched, no exceptions. In the event of a tie, there will be no lynch.
8. "No lynch" is permitted in this game.
9. In any disputes not settled here, I have the final say.
10. No editing posts. obviously.
11. I didn't think that I had to put this in, Don't quote the Mod's PM!
12. Keep it clean! I know theres bound to be some agressiveness and arguing in the game but any excessive foul language or bad sportsmanship you WILL be modkilled
13. Communication(only if your role allows it) is to be made during the night only.

There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone."

Day 1

The Grey Labyrinth, Mafia Forum. Hundreds of happy labyrinthians slaughter each other every day in an unending quest for truth but what happens when the game becomes all to real. Soon the killings will start and only one last breath of calm and sanity stand between them and ruin.

My brother had an idea regarding the endgame voting: assuming townies don't mind being sacrificed for the good of the town, we should keep playing until there are only two players left, then end the game. If there's a maf left, we'll lose anyway, and we get the maximum number of chances to lynch a possible scum.
Not that this really matters so early in the game, but it's good to get the thought out there....

I guess it depends whether we consider it better to win with more people alive or not. We've still kind of won if we're dead the town wins, but it still kind of feels like you've won less when you're dead.

Normally we'd know if we'd caught everyone because there'd be no more killings though. I guess the scum can decide to hide and not kill for a night or something maybe?

There are other roles other than just mafia and townie. A cult leader doesn't kill anyone just recuits people. Though there really isn't enough people for a cult game.

I think the moderators of mafia games would generally stop a game with the players they have left if all of them are on the same side. Wink

I've played in one game with this sort of condition (Dragon Phoenix was in it also.) That mod specifically did not end the game even when all scum were out of the game/dead. Granted, it's a different mod, so your mileage may vary.

It's possible the endgame condition is also for the purpose of helping lynchers or jesters or other weird win conditions.

But honestly, we'd be better off worrying about hunting scum for the moment. (The discussion of game mechanics could be useful for scum hunting, as it gives us reactions to analyze, but it shouldn't be the only thing we do.)

Two important things:

*I will not be stopping the game as it is the towns decision.
*In my games if you are dead you lose, only the survivors win.

So if we lynch all scum, the game of mafia just becomes another Survivor-like thing, unless we tell you to stop the game? Confused

And good point thok, though, considering the amount of players, I think that it is at least safe to say that there are no more than six (considering the town would've lost right away) and less than five if we make it past today's lynch (and they're sided with the town) and night kill. (If there are such things as those in this game. Surprised )

But considering it all, I wouldn't think this game is too unbalanced, seeing how many players it is and seeing that the game is still going on. What's the worse that could happen? Laughing

This is really stupid. I mean incredibly totally stupid. It encourages people to be passive as they want to avoid being night killed or lynched, and a game of mafia with everybody being passive is impossible to play.

Plus, you didn't include this condition in the sign-up thread, or in your post making the rules. If that part of the win condition had been known, people might not have signed up for the game.

I will put an FOS on your random number generator though, it's clearly working against the town Revenge most foul!

Well now that the rules discussion on what's considered winning and what isn't is over I can't really think of much to talk about other than who to mindlessly bandwagon really. I think I'll just
Vote MNOWAX
for wanting to end the day already. Clearly motivated by wanting an easy scum victory!

Although to be honest it would be a pretty silly thing to do as scum anyway so it probably just means he isn't. But maybe that's what he wants us to think...

No matter what the mod says, I'm still of the opinion that if my side wins the game, even if I'm dead, then I also won. No matter what he says, he can't control how others will perceive the game. If someone managed to sniff out every mafia member yet gets killed by the mafia before the town lynch the mafia, I'd still say that player was a winner.
