Judging by the previous polls, I thought Newton was going to win in a landslide. _________________ This statement is false. |

Not exactly. We still learn Newton's theories in school and not Einstein's, because Newton's almost always work anyway, and Einstein's are a bit complicated. _________________ This statement is false. |

I used that exact same reasoning once to protest my grade in a physics exam. Though my solution wasn't technically "correct" (at least not with the strict definition of the word) it was a hell of a lot simpler than the book's "correct" answer.
I still believe I should of got that D. |

This is only true to a mathemetician -- and they are generally clueless anyway. To an engineer, Newton's equations are exactly correct. By "exactly correct" I mean that error introduced by using Newton's rather than Einstein's equations is very much less than the error in whatever measuring device you used. When you are dealing with three or four digits of accuracy, it is idiotic to worry about some factor that affects the result down around the 19th significant digit. |
