Sorry, guys. I participated enthusiastically in this competition all the way until the home stretch, then just petered out. I just burnt out on puzzle-making, and never got beyond a pathetic start in this final puzzle. I don't have any excuses -- I wasn't even particularly busy in my real life -- I just was too un-motivated.
Congrats and best of luck to both Groza and Scurra. |

Well, I never did complete the puzzle, so I've withdrawn from the competition, but I figured that I might as well post what I had so far.
My plan was to create an applet that would initially show four "doors" each with a button and a text input field. The buttons would each lead you to puzzle which would result in a word or number which you would enter into the text input field. If it was correct, the door would open and show what was under it.
Under the first four doors would be five more doors with the same button & text input. The doors would be odd shapes, so that opening one of the top doors might reveal parts of two or even three of the lower doors. If you could see any part of a door, you'd be able to access the puzzle for it.
Anyway, once all the doors were open, you'd be able to see the following. Note that this would be a little more tantalizing since you'd only be able to see parts of it. Most people would not be able to get it all, since my plan was to have a variety of different puzzles, some word-based, some math-based, and some picture-based.
The plan was the the first four puzzles would be traditional types (at least for Grey Labyrinth). So far I had written a 3x3x3 and a signmaker. They are:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3x3x3
air
amman
chuck
collie
decorative
hepatitis
honor
indian
justice
needle
news
outer
pad
patrol
plasma
police
programming
quick
sharp
show
shuttle
right
river
saving
van
welcome
wheel
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Signmaker
The banquet, dude. A castle -- to slalom downhill with colorant in mitten.
Annual publication centered around a main idea: Detest cars! Flightless bird getting amorous. |

| No takers on the 3x3x3 or the signmaker? As signmakers go, I think it is a pretty easy one. |

Oscar has it, of course.
Quail is almost correct. Make "Station Chief" and move TV to be with C and launch, for "schedule."
And for the final word, either railroad or train would have worked. |
