Is there an error in the baby boomers puzzle or am I missing something and am about to be lambasted.

You say the expected number of boys is 1 and that for girls is 0.5 (this is the number of expected girls per family and not the proportion as is implied). This would suggest a total population that was not 50:50 male:female

I hope I not missing something,

Vince

I thought we'd decided that the puzzle was poorly worded.
