I have backed up all the GL threads to my computer. I have them, they are safe with me.

I would like to do a "Prune by date" and delete all threads that haven't had any activity in the last year. After this is done, the GL will be under it's space quota, and Kevin won't have to pay the "over disk space" fee every month. If you have concerns about this, please say them now.

I will eventually make a program which will allow you to search and view these old threads. I'm not sure if it will be on greylabyrinth.com or somewhere else like glpics.com. The search feature uses a lot of processor power, and Kevin's host doesn't like scripts that use up the CPU.

Well that's about it for now. I'll probably do the Prune on Friday if there are no objections. Keep in mind that we can restore threads at a later date if need be.

Hy, I'm copying the older chess puzzles to a file in GLOC. Hopefully I'll finish before tomorrow morning, will let you know when I'm done.

Okay, got 'em all up to October 20, 2000, with the exception of borschevsky's Chess Problem XIII (last post 5-30-2000) which is suffering from the dreaded 'Red X' syndrome.

<snip out the puzzle so people won't be tempted to cheat. >

(heh, sorry, should have thought about that before, but my brain was getting a little foggy by the time I made that second post.)

Okay, I've moved it to Archives. I'll grant you access to Archives as well. (though GLOC is technically mith's area, he's out of town.)

Okay. Just to give you people an idea of the space savings...

VSP was 100,732,661 bytes. It's now 41,613,090 bytes.

That's a savings of about 60,000,000 bytes, or rougly 57 meg.

That was in one forum alone.

I also deleted from Off Topic and VSG.

Hopefully this too will help cut down on ISEs.
