Eek! Good job I didn't look it up.
It's not in Dictionary.com
I was thinking engraciate, but it's actually spelt "ingratiate" and "ingrace" in the dictionary and it doesn't recognise my spelling of the word.
I was thinking of the French "en grāce", I suppose.
I guess I got lucky.

I have no idea what it means. I just know that it comes up on Word Racer (Yahoo's version of Boggle) a lot. I believe that I stumbled on it accidentally in one game and just continued to use it.

Jack_Ian, shame on you for not knowing QI. It is on two different must-know lists for Scrabble: 2-letter words and Q without U

I thought I was going blind and resorted to the find command to make sure.
If I ever get serious about scrabble, I'll certainly visit these lists. For now I just like surviving on words that I actually come across. If I take it too seriously, I might lose some of the fun.

PlayerScore = PersonalScore - LowestPlayerScore + 1.

How is that different?
Unless I'm missing something, it will just give people lower final scores, but will not effect the leaderboard.
Getting lower scores is probably not more fun.

It wouldn't change anything if all the player submitted every round. But as it is, this scoring method would move people around the scoreboard. Consider this: in round 1, everyone who submitted got 28 points and the people who didn't submit got 0. Under the new method, everyone would have gotten only 1 point.

It certainly would have kept people playing who had missed one or two rounds, since there wouldn't be so much of a gap. It's kind of late to change it now, though -- maybe for next game, if you're planning to run it again.
