New suggested game.
Mini Stratego.
Each player has the following 'cards'.
Marshall
Colonel
Captain
Sergeant
Miner
Bomb *
Spy *
Each kills any below it except that Spy kills Marshall, Bomb kills anything except a miner
For each round, each player offers 1 available card in a battle with another player. best card wins.
The winner of any battle wins a duplicate of the unit he kills (to a maximum of 1 of any type). Miners capture bombs.
eg. Colonel beats Sergeant and if the 'colonel' player doesn't have a sergeant, he gains one.
Each player can only ever have a maximum of one of each card.
For Miner vs bomb, the Miner captures the bomb (to a max of one for the Miner player)
Battle reports: Either which player in a battle won, Explosion (for a bomb going off) or mutual destruction (when both sides offer the same card). The battle winner is told if he gets a replacement card.
Play continues until one player cannot be beaten (either has a master card or opponents have run out of cards).
Players PM their orders. For non-orders, the non-order player loses the highest card that would be beaten by the other player. eg. Captain vs non-order. The non-order player loses a sergeant or miner or spy (in that order), which the winning player in that battle might get to keep.
Players are listed in order of remaining cards (highest first) with players on equal cards in random order. If there's an odd number of players then the lowest player has no opponent (a bye) but next round are first on the list regardless of how many cards they hold.
Hope it makes sense. Criticisms welcome (Hope it hasn't been invented here already). If workable, I would need 6 players to try it out (a small group to iron out problems) on a quick turnaround if possible.
Any takers? |

Rather than taking stratego directly, which has a very 2-player built model, why not create your own.
In other words, rather than doing rock-paper-scissors, can you do rock-paper-scissors-lizard-spock. |
