Oh, FLING is a good word, hmmm FLAGS, FLANK or FLING?
No N and no G tried so far as well as no F... definitely FLING.
Thanks Amb. |

Day 11 opens with another kill, meaning our party of five is now just a party of four. Sorry mathgrant, sucks to lose because of the updates not registering.
If I run this again (any interest?) I think I a way to slow the winner momentum would be to have all guesses made in secret. I could simply post the scores, but I don't know how much the players want to keep track of their own guesses (I would be slightly annoyed). The other option is to not let them pick a new jotto word, which creates a much faster game.
Another adjustment would be to lengthen each round, to say 72 hours. A week is definitely too much, but a day seems like it's easy for some people to lose over half their turns, which then also handicaps players who receive only a few guesses on their next target, instead of the case of Dented Ford taking out Courk, then getting MattV on just one more guess. _________________ I'll have a P please...

Yes thanks Amb!
Now hmm, SLING
I think viewing the words that people pick is part of the interest, especially looking to see who is catching up with what combinations, so just showing the score wouldn't be a lot of fun. I also think it would be unfair not to have a word change when a kill is made. Otherwise there is almost a disincentive to making a kill, as that would me you have to start from scratch. I don't know of a good way to solve the issue. PMing to the mod a list of words to use as a default in case of absence is about the best I can think of. I think that everyone should definitely have the same number of guesses as everyone else though, that is the key. |

Submission of words in advance for times of absence will be allowed, similar to submitting one word at a time. Simply post IN BOLD AND CAPS your next moves, an "away" list if you will, and I will play one at a time from that list in order, until I run out (at which point you'll miss turns) or you submit a new word. As soon as you post a new word or list of words, I will use that word or list and stop using the old list. |
I already allowed advance word lists on page 2, but I think not a lot of people saw it. Plus it's only useful for the first couple of guesses, and towards the end when you already know 4 letters and need a 5th.
I think just extending the deadline for each round to every few days will be enough to not kill the pace and not kill the fairness. I do think people who manage to make every deadline should be rewarded by not missing a turn, just not to the level it happened in this game. _________________ I'll have a P please... |

I don't think I completely understand the game. When the people in front of me were eliminated the stuff that I knew reset, right? Anyway I better start actually posting words if I want to do well at all. |

Since Amb hasn't solved a word yet, you don't need to start over. You're still on the same word until Amb solves his target, or you solve Amb's word.
EDIT: Scores updated BTW. _________________ I'll have a P please... |

whoops, forgot, Amb you're starting over on UM as he made a kill, so JOKED is the start of that. I'll rescore it and delete the old guesses when I update the scores next. _________________ I'll have a P please... |

And with that milkshake falls. SNAIL was the exact word, but SLAIN scores a 5 and a kill for Dented Ford who again forces his pursuer to start over. Please PM me your new jotto word DF, and UM your progress is going to be wiped clean. Amb is going to have to hurry to fend off Ford's killing spree, while Monk may be able to take DF out before his word is cracked by either opponent. Good luck to all!
EDIT: I've started putting the newest scoreboard in each post as well as the first post, because editing the post on each page just seemed unnecessary when this is a better solution. _________________ I'll have a P please... |

Crap! I dont want to ask FLUKE then! It was based on the plays to date.
The words I want to ask are
CRWTH
BUMPS
Depending on the scores I may then ask FLING.
I am amazed to still be in the game considering I was away on holiday with intermittent access. |

I don't think it should effect you. If I updated at the same time every night, it shouldn't matter when you see the thread. I know I was not perfect (anywhere from 6PM to 4AM) though. rm has pointed out a flaw in the current system, in that if DF just stalled he could wait until amb or um was closing in on their target, then make the kill, forcing UM to start over much later and getting free guesses from Amb. It's not a perfect strategy as a shot in the dark could sink him, but it's a big enough flaw to tweak later.
| Code: |
Amb UM DF
JOKED 2 PAINS 2 SMACK 1
FLUKE 1 TOUGH 0 TROMP 1
CRWTH 0 NAMES 1 WHITE 1
BUMPS 1 ....... TRICK 1
....... ....... ROUND 3
....... ....... MOUND 3
....... ....... BULGY 1
....... ....... DECKS 1
....... ....... NECKS 0
....... ....... AUDIO 5 |
Good luck to the two remaining players. UM you have to start off with DF's new word (pm please) and DF you get the advantage of Amb's previous guesses to start you off. _________________ I'll have a P please... |

Now I get what MattV was on about in post 48! (Duh)
I never thought of that, I was just always trying to get the word because I was conscious that other people behind were always going to be trying to get my word even if they had to start again when I got a new one.
Both MattV and Amb picked AUDIO as their first word then? It's quite a nice Jotto word with the three vowels. For Amb's go it was a little less apparent than MattV's at first, but when I fixed the D, the rest tumbled into place.
New guess: VIXEN |
