I'M SO SORRY!!! Melancholy I have been really busy for the past few days struggling with a combination of work and junioritis. Cannibal Stupid history teacher landed us an essay out of friggin' nowhere.

I'll understand if some of you are away, but if you're still here to play, that'd be great. Votecount coming soon! And an imminent prod and replacement to those who left because of my own RL issues. Dispirited

Ambprods for everyone later today, especially for me, I'll make more time to post attentively.

And I will be looking for a replacement for Courk so if you hear of anyone who is in need of a good mafia game, send em here. If I cannot, I'll have to expel her role from the game altogether. Either JDTAY or MNOWAX can reincarmbnate if they want.

My amazing input (before I actually read what I may have missed...) is that I don't think raekuul is up to nothing. (See what I did there?) "Man, if I get lynched that's cool I'm VT" is, like, not something VTs actually say. At least not outright. Cannibal

thoughts:

Zag seems the least scummy out of everyone here at the moment - he's made informative posts with analysis(139), is watching out-of-game factors(75), but likes his vote-order analysis a bit much for day 1 Cannibal. Think he was off on his (175) thoughts. My favoritism towards his style of play may stem out of my own, but I don't like the current string of votes on him, and I'll eat a shoe if he turns out scum.

Quailman seems quick to jump on people. I don't like that at all... he's being aggressive in his posts, but that could just be a headstrong pro-town. He does decent analysis as well(144), and wants to create activity, but he's attacking the person I think is least scummy (177). FOS, but just barely.

raekuul claimed a bit early for my tastes, and has been the butt of multiple bandwagon attempts. He's still around, which means either his scumbuddies are jumping on and off, or he's been an unfortunate target. Semi-scummy. I'm watching you, and giving you a FOS to boot.

The bastard//metagamer in me wants to bandwagon Amb, as I severely doubt he's vanilla in a game like this, and I'd put a higher than average probability he's mafia (then again, that's full meta, so take that as you will Cannibal). He randomly voted for ralphmerridew early, switched onto the raekuul bandwagon, and likes his meta too. He voted Zag, though, so I don't quite like that. His last-minute switch to JDTAY was unfortunate, but I don't like false claims.

milkshake seems to read a lot into other people's comments (44). I like his reasoning on (183), though, and he seems pro-town for the moment, but isn't quite as involved as I'd like to see.

UM has seemed at one point or a third to be a raekuul apologist (47), but his thoughts in the matter were sound. He was off on JDTAY, though.

sAb had a good thought on (42), but was early on going for JDTAY. Thinks there are 3 scum... which seems about right for a game like this, but I agree with Quailman's thoughts on the (161) post. Good thoughts on (187). FOS. (I'm throwing those around a lot. Lots of people seem a little suspicious to me at the moment. Dunno if it's me being rusty or just my paranoia).

Poisonium has been pretty quiet. I'm inclined to vote him just to get further information, but he
was spot-on with his not liking JDTAY's claim (127), and agree with his dislike of the mass claiming.

ralphmerridew has been really quiet, hasn't jumped around much. I've got a gut feeling that his lurking means he's hiding something, and while I like his latest vote on raekuul, I'm willing to VOTE: ralphmerridew to back it up and maybe get info.

I'm not considering either of the dead townies right now (I'm not sure an analysis is in order, since they can obviously no longer be targets) and I of course am as pure as a newbown lAmb. (aaaaagh, that hurt just to write Cannibal)

Meta:

So far we've confirmed the following:
1 Mason
1 Townie
?3? Scum ??? (161)

10 left (6 is majority). No lynching is a BAD IDEA imo at this point (not that it's been brought up this cycle, just saying).

No cop or doc claim
No vig claim

Anything I'm missing? Sorry about the wall of text.

Welcome! Nice analysis. I especially liked the part I've quoted below, which is something I hadn't thought about. This is only my 4th game of mafia -- I was mafia (and won!) in both my first two, and I was lynched in the first day in the 3rd one, so I have very little experience playing a townie. I've never seen that strategy by scum, but it has the ring of truth.

The real problem for us is that we cant seem to get any momentum going if we could catch a scum it could be helpful. But right now we are getting no bites. I like the idea of following the new guy as he isnt weighed down with the slowness of this game. So for a change of pace Unvote, Vote: ralphmerridew

I think you're meta-gaming too much here. Personally, I don't like non-random deal of roles, and I always assume it is not the case.

But you're not the one on the chopping block.

I'll agree, this game has been running rather slowly, even for the GL. Heck, IWBTM 12 started around the same time as this game, and that one's over already. Having said that, those games are usually a lot faster than GL games anyway...

Where was I going with this again?

Our newcomer did an objective analysis and found Zag not to be scummy and decided to place his vote on ralphmerridew. I only find him a bit suspicious, primarily due to his lurkeriness. I'm still okay with my vote on Zag. I don't see why so many people are out to get raekuul. He claimed yesterday and we didn't believe him, yet somehow he escaped the noose. When a role was revealed that made raekuul's believable (to me anyway), I dropped my suspicion of him. It's Zag's persistence that has earned my vote.

heres what I suggest to get this game going:

everyone take a day or two to review the material and then vote who you think is scummiest. We will then agree to bandwagon whoever has the most votes even if its not a majority. because No LYnch right now is a bad idea but we need to move to night phase.

ditto.

Quailman, What you perceive as persistence is merely constancy. I make a decision, and I stick with it until new evidence changes my mind. And I tend to feel confidant enough to speak my mind ... repeatedly.

Rather than persistence being a trait you find scummy, you should be looking for who is trying to jump on bandwagons without seeming to. That is, who is jumping around, trying to be be no later than the 3rd or 4th vote on a person, but trying to lend his or her weight to a bandwagon without looking like he is simply jumping on any one that forms. That, to me, is a scummy trait (because in other games, when I was mafia, that is what I was always trying to do).

This semi-bandwagon on raekuul is the only one I have joined, and I feel that I have good reasons. I don't plan to change my vote until there is some new evidence.

*sigh*

I didn't want the game to go down this path. I wish we could have tried to get more info out of today. However, I'm in agreement with Amb, UM, and milk on trying to keep the game alive. And because the current wagon is on someone that I've already put a FoS on,

Unvote: Vote: raekuul.

We're not Lynch or Lose on a miss (if my math's right), but it's getting close.

I still want info out of ralphmerridew. He's not saying much at ALL. Maybe that's just my paranoia, but I was hoping my post would trigger further discussion.
