The game calls for 11 players, but I'm fine with at least 6-7. This won't start until June 1 just so I know how many people have signed up. The more people sign up, the greater the chance we race around the world. Fewer people signing up means we race in America and Canada, yay. There are 2 sections I divided the rules into - Gameplay and Other Info. Gameplay is just the basic rules while Other Info are additional rules that I will either keep or get rid of depending on how many people sign up and if they are understandable. I am also willing to set up a practice leg if anyone wants before the race begins.
Gameplay
When the leg starts, you will be given a clue telling what the first task/transportation will be, plus the maximum amount of time that could be spent on that task. You are given 100 effort points at the start of the leg. Each time you are given a task, you can spend as many points as you wish. Spending more points will mean that you will finish the task more quickly, unless specified otherwise. Also, you cannot save points to carry over in the next leg, you must use them only for the current leg.
You will then get a reply saying how much time you spent at the task/transportation and what the current time/date is, plus the next clue.
Whenever there is a flight, you will be given a list of the possible availabe flights for the day and how much each of the flight costs. Taking the earlist flight may get you there the fastest, however it will also cost you the most points. Note that flight delays won't be a factor when flying.
Once you have completed all the tasks/transportations you will be taken to the pit stop, and I will tell you your arrival time. Once all players have completed the leg, the results will be posted. The last person to arrive at the pitstop is eliminated, unless it is a non-elimination leg. The first person to arrive at the finish line wins the Amazing Race!
Since each leg is divided up into several sections, there is a 72-hour deadline to complete each section. Failure to meet the deadline results in some form of punishment such as a time penalty or a loss of effort points. However arrangements can be made if it's not possible to meet the deadline.
Other Info
Yield - Allows one player to force another player to stop racing for 30 minutes. When players are at the Yield, they must state whether they want to use the Yield, or pass. When the Yield is used, I will inform the penalized player that they have been Yielded and who targeted him when that player arrives at the Yield. If the targeted player arrived at the Yield before actually being penalized, then he will not have to take the penalty, but it will still count as a Yield that has been used. If other players arrive at the Yield, and the Yield has been used already, then I will inform them who has been penalized and who penalized him. Players may only use their Yield power once on the race, and only one player may be Yielded when the Yield is availabe, though the same person can be Yielded multiple times during the same race. 2 Yields will be offered in the race.
Detour - You are presented two tasks, each spend the same amount of maximum time, and only have to complete one task. To complete a detour, just state which task you are going to do and the amount of points you wish to spend.
U-Turn - Presented at the end of a detour - allows one player to force another player to backtrack and complete the Detour option they did not previously complete. All other rules for the U-Turn are the same as the Yield. 2 U-Turn's will be offered in the race.
~Should a conflict arise where the person being penalized is ahead of the person trying to do the penalizing in real time, the person being penalized will be told at the pit stop. The penalized time is the same time as the player completed the detour task.
Fast Foward - You are given an alternate task, and if you are the first team to complete the task, you are then given a Route Info clue that allows you to go directly to the pit stop, bypassing all remaining tasks in the leg. Any other team that goes to the task will then be told that someone has already completed the task, and therefore the fast forward cannot be won. You can only win one Fast Forward the entire race, and there will be a Fast Forward offered in every leg until there are just 4 teams remaining. Since there can be some problems dealing with how people make their decisions in real-time, should a player choose to go for the Fast Forward, they will also be required to finish the leg the normal way, simulating if they failed at the Fast Forward. At the end, they will be told 2 different times, one for when they arrived using the Fast Forward, and one for when they arrived using the normal way. If another player arrived and completed the Fast Forward before you, then your time will be when you completed the normal way. If no one else choose to complete, or you completed it the fastest, then your time will be when you completed the Fast Forward time.
Speed Bump - An additional task that is given only to the player who finishes last in a non-elimination leg. All players will be alerted when a Speed Bump is coming, and once the player finishes the task, they will recieve the next clue.
Intersection - Requires one player to pair up with another player and perform all tasks and make decisions together until further notice. Players will keep their points, however you can decide whether one person will spend their points for a given task or both of you will. When the Intersection begins, I will give you a list of available players to choose from when they arrive at the Intersection. Should there be no other players present when a given player arrives at the intersection, they must wait there until another player arrives, though they do not have to partner with that player and can opt to wait for another player instead. Players are free to choose their partner if multiple players are present. Players are not warned when an Intersection is coming.
