Wtf is an irken? Lots to find out... but sadly, although there is a wealth of stuff all about them, not that interesting, to me.
Voted dryads in the end. |

The poll illuminates what I see as a trisection of the mythical creatures:
1. Those that have entered the popular venacular: bigfoot, vulcans, etc.
2. Those from antiquity: nymphs, grendel, etc.
3. Obscure creatures from modern TV or science fiction: the soft ones, all these Futurama references, etc.
The characters in (1) are the only ones that have a chance of winning, although a few 1/2 straddlers will probably put up a good showing. |

I disagree, you can hardly call things like Futurama and other stuff of that nature as 'obscure' just because they may not seem to have as large a following as Star Trek might. They still have their respective fanbases, a large one for Futurama I might add, in light of their 'comeback'. |

Did you look at the link provided and find out?
Grunka Lunkas are simply a spoof on Willie Wonka's helpers. They weren't that interesting in the original stories.
I think dryads are certainly interesting, and although I did follow the link and discover some things about Irken, I didn't find them as interesting as dryads. IMO, and seemingly by the opinion of a number of other voters currently, I don't think I wasted my vote. |

Yes, I did. Simply a description of 'tree nymph' and a couple appearances in literature. It didn't thrill me per se.
I can definitely see how Grunka Lunkas are uninteresting, considering they come by the thousands, sing songs about current events, and together are a large workforce in one of the greatest Slurm factories on the planet. But again, and I realize this, it's still my opinion, nothing greater.
Still, I don't really see how 'voting with the majority' contains any good use of a vote, and if that's your basis for voting then it definitely wasn't one that was made by your choice alone. Simply dismissing Grunka Lunkas because they are a spoof of something you don't find interesting and Irkens because of your lack of information on them and having your only basis of voting be the other articles and not even mentioning venusians still makes it seem like you didn't even give any of the others a fair shot just because you seem to be a 'nymph'omaniac. _________________ Potato. I know a lot more about them than that already, and it's my opinion, and merely my opinion that they are the most interesting, even after having investigated the rest.

Yes, it is just an opinion. People are entitled to hold a differing opinion, and to express that opinion. You are perfectly entitled to say that you think Grunka Lunkas are the most interesting, and that dryads aren't. What you aren't entitled to say is:

Where did I say that I made my choice by reviewing the other votes? I didn't see the other votes until after I'd placed mine, which was the second vote at the time. It's only now on coming back to the thread that I see many other people have also voted for dryads. I had plenty of information on Irkens, and reviewed it. I found it less interesting than dryads. I reviewed the information on Venusians. I didn't find them interesting enough to bother commenting. |

Did I say that you made your choice by reviewing the other votes? You seem to be missing the key 'if' in my statement where I'm drawing a hypothetical situation, not making an assumption. I just found it odd to think that a species could be considered 'uninteresting' simply because Dryads happened to get more votes this time around. There could be half a dozen ignorant voters on that thing! Like I said before, every one of these species has its own fanbase, so to think it's 'interesting' because you are entertained by said species is one thing, to say it's 'uninteresting' is kind of hasty considering that people would and did vote for Irkens/Grunka Lunkas/Venusians. More votes is unequal to more credibility, more interest, more awesomeness, etc. IMO, If people have to make a decision between a species they like, and a species they never even heard off which may also have its credit, they're more likely to choose the one they like. |

I realize this may seem like I'm being antagonistic, just voicing an opinion, no harm meant. |
